It's known that if you are prone to male pattern baldness, anabolic steroids ( or high dht levels) will speed up your hair loss.
but if you are not prone high levels of testosterone and dht wont have any harm effect because your hairs are not sensitive to dht.

so why bodybuilders like arnold or jay cutler take large quantity of steroids during their young years and havent any hair loss and than now that they are more old they start losing hairs and thinning ?

It is like asking why teenage boys, who usually have high Testosterone and DHT, don't have male pattern baldness yet as men get older and their T and DHT levels decrease, they start to suffer from male pattern baldness. Seems paradoxical that an androgen disorder (like prostate issues) starts/accelerates in men as their androgen levels decline.

The BS common answer is that genes switch on your hair follicle to become ultra sensitive to Androgens and only in certain areas on your head. How or why this happens there is no answer.

I don't think at this time we know the answer to these questions. We just know some dysfunction in the androgen process in the scalp/follicle occurs and it has nothing to do with actual levels of the hormone (at least in the serum). This dysfunction may be set off by things like scalp development, tension, loss of collagen, stem cell dysfunction causing an increase in ARs, etc.
