Question about big 3 (with pics)

I hate putting a picture of myself on a forum for complete strangers to see but I was wondering if the big 3 can help my hair get back to it's old look or if the balding is too advanced to completely get it back.

One picture is the state of my hair now and one is of my old self when I did a small bit of modeling photos a few years back before the hair loss set in.

Do you think I can return my hair to it's former glory with the big 3? I'm about to start them regardless.

Thanks for any input!

I'm not sure you'll be growing your hair out that long again...there's a chance but it's small. You'd basically have to hope for SE-freak type results (in success stories), which is a slim chance.

Get on the big 3 though and let's see what happens.

yeah my hair doesn't usually look that bad but I've been wearing a beanie all day. Do people not usually see the same results he SE-freak did?

I guess at least the big 3 will make it better looking though and I can go to medium length again.

Has scalp exercises worked for people?

I don't think the scalp exercises do anything for hair growth, the science behind hair loss has confirmed that it is due to androgens. They can't hurt, though, and as the previous poster said it might make your forehead stay young looking for a long time.

Most people don't see results quite like SE'freaks. He has naturally thick hair and regrew ALL of it.

There is a possibility you might be like him but we won't know til you try it.

It could also at least help the horrible itching that goes along with thinning. The itch came before the thinning for me and it wasn't before I came to these forums that I found out this is common.

I'll keep hoping for results like his, or strange karma's because he got his long hair back. I won't be able to start the big 3 until I get a prescription for propecia in January.

On another note, by looking at my hair now do you think there is a possibility it is caused by telogen effluvium? I am just now researching this and wondering if this could be a factor.

Doubtful, it looks more like male pattern baldness.

Telogen effluvium is usually spotty and stress related...male pattern baldness is ALWAYS the top/temples/vertex of the head and not the sides/back.

No use beating around the bush.

male pattern baldness and no, you aren't ever going to grow your hair like that again (99.999% confident on both counts).

I'd start the big 3 asap, but that's just me.

Ah well, I am starting the big 3 regardless. I am going to grow out my hair a bit more to cover up some bare spots though. At least the big 3 should fill in those spots a bit more and maintain it for a few years.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, with the big 3 you could pretty much get back a full head of hair. I just can't see you getting to the point where you are managing to pull off a shoulder length hair cut consisting of hair grown from minoxidil.

You should be able to regrow and get enough coverage so it may not even seem you are balding. Might just have to come to terms with the radical hair dos being a thing of the past though. I doubt you'll want a hair cut like that anyway once you start apply minoxidil.

yeah I was thinking more about half that length. I'm 24 now and don't want to look like I have teenage stoner hair anymore. I just like to wear it longer than most.

Does minoxidil make your hair look more matted or greasy? If so, is their anything to combine it with that will make your hair a bit more soft? Oh, and also can you blow dry your hair after applying the minoxidil to your head? I use the dryer to style my hair in the morning.

Sorry about all the questions. I'm just wondering because I got my 3 month supply in today and I'm not sure how to use it for best results. I'm going to apply it to my frontal area as well.

Nevermind, I just read that you should absolutely never use a hair dryer after applying minoxidil. I did read it's okay to use the hair dryer on a low cool setting. Right now I have the messy look and I don't know any other way to get it good looking without a dryer.

Still, if you have any advice on minoxidil I'm all ears! Thanks for the advice man

I just applied my first batch of foam. It does look pretty alright though it's not exactly the consistency the girls could run their hair through haha. When it gets longer is there any technique to make it look more smooth? (for lack of a better word.)

So I guess the reason I thought it might be Telogen Effluvium is because my crown didn't get worse yet my front did. No matter how good my results from the big 3 get I'm not going to get cocky and quit!

Oh and I did get the foam finfighter. I couldn't bring myself to use that nasty topical stuff

What if this guy started the fight earlier? Let's say in the very first signs of male pattern baldness. You guys think that he then would be able to maintain the long haircut?
