Quality Expectations Of Regrown Hair After A Shed?

I am losing ground fast and I regret starting minoxidil a year ago. The shed was terrible and there has been no regrowth. I’m still on the oral 1.25.

I’m struggling with adding Finasteride topical, Finasteride oral, or Dutasteride. I don’t know if I should wait to get worse to avoid another shed if any regrwoth will only be fine and sad.

Any real success stories? I’m also very diffuse and lost a ton of density from a great baseline. Been 15 months from a strong 0 no thinning or receding.

My experience with minoxidil has been weird. I started with 2 x 5% topical and 2mg oral a day. Got that awful shed which slowed but I never recovered density, however I had hairline recession (because of low estrgoen - I’m female), and that seemed to regrow my hairline. Still, every three months I’ll get recession, then the next 3 months regrowth, then recession, then regrowth. I’ll lose maybe 100-150 hairs a day still, but my density has only gotten worse and worse. I believe minoxidil synchronised my hair growth cycle. I should mention that I have been on the pill diane35 and I did try spironolactone 200mg for maybe 9 months with no stoppage of hairloss. I’m now trying 0.5mg Dutasteride and once a day 5% topical RU. You have to remember that, if you have androgenetic alopecia, only using minoxidil will not stop your hairloss. It may slow it, but it doesn’t address the underlying hormonal issues. I would recommend trying some form of dht blocker and stick with oral minoxidil. Best of luck.

Thanks for the reply. I’m still convinced this entire mess was accelerated by thyroid meds. For ten months before I noticed any thinning an older female PCP put me on Levoxyl 50mg per day. I stopped when I noticed the thinning but the major Telogen Effluvium at the time seems to accelerated/uncovered AA.

In you experience to you think the minoxidil helped with diffuse? It’s been so bizarre two months ago seemed like progress and then my temples hairline disappeared.

Can I just say, minoxidil May SLOW hairloss, maybe regrow some bals areas, but you will still slowly lose hair. This is my current issue (why I’ve in the past week started taking dutas/RU). I think my hair would have been far wors by now without It, but it certainly has not stopped hairloss and diffuse thinning.
