hair doesnt grow thicker after u shave it, or cut it. This is a myth.

the reason people think this, is because the hair is thicker at the base. kinda like a tree. So when u shave ur head or face, the diameters of the hairs are bigger at the base. But it will grow to be the same size as it was previously.

think about this. Theres a field of trees with no branches, or leaves. just tree trunks that are wide at the base, and thin at the top. Someone comes along and cuts them all down.

All of the circles left would have a wider diameter after being cut down, than they had b4 they were cut down.

I think most people already understand this part. What they don't understand is that once the already-cut hair starts growing again, the base of the hair will get thicker as it grows. Like, say the trunk of the tree was left after it had been cut - as it grows out, anything that grows under it would get thicker and thicker just like how a tree gets thicker and thicker when it first grows out. But our hair doesn't do that because there is a limitation how large the hair follicle (or hair cell) can get. If hair does get thicker every time you cut it, the hair follicle would have to grow larger as well, which just doesn't happen as cells can only grow so large.
