Putting Lotion in hair?

I've noticed after using nizoral and a variety of topicals, my hair has been really dry and has kind of a crispy texture. Lately, after I've been getting out of the shower, after I dry my hair off I will put some lotion (regular lotion with vitamin E) in my hair...not so much that its soaked but just a light layer over the top. Since I've been doing this my hair has been very soft and it looks a lot healthier as well. Can this be beneficial for hair, or could it interfere with the use of topicals such as minoxidil?

stop using nizoral and dont use anything with menthol in it, menthol just supresses sebum production and makes hair drier.

apply honey and cinnamon before shampooing but let it sit in hair for at least 45 minutes, this is the best hair moisterizer ever, i used to use lotion with shea butter and it work decent, but honey is way better. Any kind of honey will do.
