The only significant information I had really seen is the following:

"Additional progress has also been made toward the initiation of the Follica RAIN pivotal study in androgenetic alopecia as well as the identification and testing of next-generation, proprietary compounds based on the Group's intellectual property. The Follica RAIN pivotal study is expected to commence in the first half of 2018, following the completion of an optimisation study that is expected to begin imminently."

So it seems like follica is definitely testing next generation compounds as they put it. The unfortunate news is their pivotal trial is now pushed back until first half of 2018. This is bad news but the good news is that their optimization study is expected to begin imminently (which reads as soon, but closer to now). I believe the original plan was that the optimization study led into their pivotal trial. Which means if they did 3 months for their optimization trial, their pivotal trial was only gonna last 9 months if successful. Maybe @Noisette cam confirm that?

Overall this isn't good news. Not terrible news, but def not the good news I was hoping for. I am going to start microdosing finasteride (.5 mg), and hope I can maintain and not get sides. I def can't wait any longer.

I wouldn't say the trial has been delayed, actually.
It was already known the next phase would start this quarter of the year, and it is, indeed, starting this time of the year.
So, the news are good.
Believing it would be released next year was rather optimistic, in the first place.

I fail to see what "isn't good news" about this.

Good news to me would be news they had started their optimization trial. They've been giving dates on starting since 2016 now.

We'll probably reach 2020 before this is on the market. But great stuff

That it won't be available "soon".
2019 at least..and even that is not for sure. Who knows if this will ever come out and what these mysterious next generation patented compounds are.

All hail Lord Tsuji!

Well if their "optimisation study that is expected to begin imminently" starts right now, then maybe it will have finished at the time of the hair congress in Japan .Maybe we can have some news then!!

If Tsuji does come to fruitation in 2020 its too bad Follica wont be much competition. In theory it would be released at about the time Tsujis therapy is starting to spread.

but it would still have its share on the market for a long period. lets not delude ourselves, even assuming tsuji perfectly masters the cloning procedure and starts offering it in jan 2020, it will be years before its easily obtainable for most people. due to both logistics and price. what is the estimation of its price, tens of thousands of dollars? what percentage of people can, realistically, without counting on winning the lottery in the meantime (or selling their house), spend that money on hair?

That's because you are a pseudo fullhead. Also are you familiar with the space-time continuum? This obviously spells a delay.

There's a saying in business that customers' expectation is Free, Perfect, and Now. You've got to start from there and anything less than that must be explained.

But yeah, those who are bald as f*** right now aren't gonna be like, meh, what's another 9 months. We want to live our lives now.

Never had much faith in Follica, probably never will unless it comes out and surprises us all

following the completion of an optimisation study that is expected to begin imminently."
.

Does anyone have any idea in what way they are using the optimization study?

Why would it not be called Phase 2b or 3a or something why differentiate it to 'optimization'?

This is all such bullshit. What's with that dermatologist a**h** posting the "Rainn" packaging all excited, clearly insinuating a new product is imminent. Scams and bullshit, as far as the eye can see. There's probably a bunch of hype men for the various products in these very forums.

I'd rather be put in carbonite like Han Solo until we get hair loss sorted, watching all the "progress" and "breakthroughs" happen in real time is heartbreaking. My favorite time is when I'm asleep dreaming. Even today I was dreaming nicely and then I had that terrible moment upon waking and at the first twinkling of my real conciousness of like, "oh god, back to my real intractable problems, that are never ending." So yeah freeze me up and have Carrie Fisher rescue me when hair loss is a thing of the past and life is worth living again.
