Okay so ive been searching for this answer all over the web and this forum.

is it normal to be able to pull hair easily after starting finasteride?

i started shedding after 1.5-2weeks on finasteride and id comb my hair and 10 pieces would fall out withing a matter of like 10-15 seconds

if i pull it every 2-3 tugs i get like 1-2 hairs

is this normal?

damn i hope not :( i been using nizoral+minoxidil only and made some good progress, my hair looks pretty damn good now. but i just started finasteride and if it ruins all that im gonna go crazy.

honestly though from what i been told from people who actually seemed like they knew what they were talking about: finasteride MAY cause some initial shedding, but thats a good thing because it means you got newer and thicker hairs growing and pushing out your old hair.

thats what i thought too. but i searched it and i dont see anything regarding hair being "pullable"

i think i might have another issue going on here... and im trying to figure it out

every strand i pull out has this yellowish thing attached to its root

Ov course you will be able to pull hairs out when your shedding, they would have dropped out eventually anyway.

This is one of the main reasons why I got on Dutasteride instead. I didn't want to take any risk on continuing to lose hair on Finasteride that would otherwise be maintained on Dutasteride, especially with my aggressive male pattern baldness.

I've never taken Finasteride, I went straight to Dutasteride. I've been taking Dutasteride for a little over two and a half months now and hair fall is becoming minimal. I would pull very little hair on my head and a whole bunch would come out before I started any treatments. Now I pull on my hair and hardly any comes off, shedding is becoming extremely minimal.

yeah but that's the thing

i dont think shedding and pulling hair is related for some reason

if it was the google searches would've given me some sort of reason to believe that

the searches indicate that the 2 are related but not dependent on eachother

i just want to make sure im prepared to deal with whatever it is whether its male pattern baldness or something else or a combination of both

come to think of it hair on my sideburns look like they've "fallen out" of place, not got thinner necessarily (its still thick as hell) and so has the hair on the side of my head (again, its still thick as fuk and lost no density)

im getting bloodwork done today anyways so ill find out i suppose

Were you able to pull hair out when on finasteride?

When my hair sheds, yes. I dont understand what you concerned about? When your shedding hairs become loose and can be pulled...

Almost 2 months into finasteride and can confirm what OP is going through. The first month was the worst, i was shedding a lot and it was depressing to see hair on my hand when I pull my hair. However, the vellus hair on my temples are getting a bit longer and thicker now. Even though I still shed a lot, my hair looks a bit better now. Look up zeroheart's Success story on this forum, he went through a massive shed at the beginning when he first started the big 3, and started to see regrowth by the 3 month mark.
