Estrogen from Propecia (finasteride) is typically a biproduct of a biproduct, and such side effects are rarely, if ever, seen in the first week or two of treatment. Your body takes much longer than this to develop excess estrogen high enough to cause Gyno. The first week or two is spent inhibiting the formation of DHT and resulting in increased *testosterone*. This is why most guys see puberty-like side effects during the first week or two (increased oiliness on face, a zit or three, possibly increased libido).
It takes awhile for that extra Testosterone to be metabolized by the liver into Estrogen, and only after that point will you typically see estrogen related effects. Guys who get Gyno almost always see such side effects after several weeks to a few months after starting Propecia.
Its unlikely that you could have both inhibited DHT, developed mass amounts of extra T, and metabolized it into estrogen levels that are high enough to cause problems, all within a week.
I had every propecia side effect known to man, and then some, and did not experience puffy eyes. It could be that it is unrelated, or it could be a simple result of inflammatory response from the changes going on in your tissues, caused by Finasteride.... as Finasteride does reduce DHT in tissues throught your entire body, not just your scalp. Whether or not it is temporary is entirely dependant upon your body chemistry and how it responds to a lack of DHT in its various tissues.
There is no clinical data on this so we cannot make the claim that it is definitely the propecia, nor can we make a guess as to whether it will go away.
