Hi All -

just wondered with the aformentioned hair loss agents -

As a topical are these considered to be the one stop shop and attacking hairloss from all fronts?

If one was using prox-n and minoxidil only would there be any other topicals recommended to be used in conjunction with it to ensure the battle is being fought at all angles..... spironolactone perhaps?

Could someone please explain all the angles that need to be covered
Antiandrogen/5ar inhibitor
SODs etc

In this thread Bryan says "There is probably nothing in Proxiphen which acts as a 5a-reductase inhibitor, so it's only logical to use it along with Propecia"
http://www.hairlosstalk.com/discussions ... x&start=10

Therefore since I can't take finasteride or dutasteride without sides - what's the topical solution?

Currently
Prox-n morning + 5% minoxidil
Proxiphen in the evening with Prox-n applied where no proxiphen was applied + 5% minoxidil over everything
Laser comb 3 x a week (forget to do this a bit though)

thanks in advance

I know some use a "homemade" concoction where they crush a few finasteride pills in a regular 2oz supply of liquid minoxidil, and use it as a regular topical. Supposedly this will have a more localized effect of the finasteride to just involve the scalp area, and thus avoid the systemic absorption sideeffects of finasteride.

Could be something to try out

A few suggestions for topicals that you may want to look into for 5ar inhibition/androgen receptor blocking.

1. spironolactone
2. Revivogen or any other topical with a lot of green tea and/or saw palmetto in it

I know I'll likely get roasted for suggesting the second one, however, in light of the studies I and a few others have found regarding these substances, it does have merit.

Thanks for the suggestions Chorizo and psych

I'm wondering if the ingredients in revivogen might conflict a bit with prox??? Revivogen seems to cantain a fair few acidic ingredients.
Any thoughts?

spironolactone shouldn't really as it's in proxiphen.....perhaps this is the best bet

sorry to say, but looking at the kind of hair loss you have, you should think about finasteride or dutasteride atleast talk to a doctor about it. it is not a poison as it is made out to be in the hairloss forums

you couldn't pay me to EVER touch finasteride or dutasteride again.....

4 months after quiting dutasteride (and I only took that crap for 3 weeks) I still have not gotten my full libido back, dissolved my gyno induced tits or recovered from the massive frontal shed I had.

finasteride made me dopy, depressed and also gave me gyno....

The major problems occurred by listening to so many here on the forum who say.... you know some people don't get the sides on dutasteride that they got on finasteride...

Well there's another side of the coin there too..... some people get the sides on dutasteride that they got on finasteride only multiply them 10x.

unfortunately - I'm a case whereby I cannot use finasteride or dutasteride. Tried finasteride for over 6 months, tried to ride the sides, tried to counteract them with flax lignans, DIM, novaldex, libido enhancers....
Hair got better.... the rest of me fell appart
