Prostatitis from Propecia

Well its looking like this is whats going on with me. 7 weeks on Propecia and this. I have no sexual sides and until 2 weeks ago felt great also my hair is improving. Im early in my hair loss i think thats why its working so good\fast. I was treated for a uti about 2 weeks ago, 10 days of cipro. Still original pelvic pain remains and now i have pain in my lower back and and my freaking ***!! So yeah its the prostate. My dr seems to have no clue, or seem to care honestly. Im going to urgent care today. Was just at my dr s again wed. And she scheduled me to come back in 2 weeks!! Seriously!!?? Im in pain and discomfort. She told me to stop Propecia for 2 weeks... Wow so insightfull... So i asked if shed write a script for Propecia (im on proscar) so i Could lower my dose. She wouldn't. Called dr haber he did it over the phone. To me just cold turkey quitting with this happening does not seem wise. For 3 days i took nothing pain worse and moved to my ***!! Idiots!! Yesterday took tiny dose felt slightly better but im not ok or normal. What do i do??? Any advice Please give it. Ive been talking with gi joey who had similar experience and hes been helpful. But any other thoughts or ideas Please respond!

Hey, I had this after I quit finasteride (was a long term user). But, I honestly think it's not related to finasteride - since I started getting this pain a couple days after stopping the medication (to soon to be from it)..

Prostatitis is a very common thing to happen, my dad had it and I know about other 2 guys who also had it (none of them took finasteride, ever).. My doctor said it was not from finasteride, and that finasteride if anything would help. He also said that he gets a lot of patients, from different ages all the time with this..

Seems like around 50% of men will have it during their lives.

I was prescribed 6 weeks of Protrin-DF, I still have a couple weeks left of pills but I fell normal already.

I also had the pain in the ***, lower abdomen, bladder and some difficulty urinating..

Note: during my research on this subject, I found that there is some doctors/researchers that think some cases of Prostatitis are due to stress (some muscles, nerves get too contracted due to stress, and that physically hurts the prostate). So, try to chill out. It will go away eventually..

hey thanks man The dr ive seen so far seem almost clueless, its scary. First my i guess primary dr(not for long) gave me ten days of cipro it didn't fix it. Went back again she really did nothing and wouldn't give me a referal to a urologist. ??? Went to urgent care they gave me motrin 800. Back to primary dr tested urine, no infection so sent me home Still in pain with an app in two weeks! Today back to urgent care no test done, didn't even check for a fever literally did nothing wrote me script for 7 days of Bactrim. Just unreal... They dont even know if theres an infection, and if there was treatment is 6 weeks! Scary lol
