Just went to order proscar and its out of stock @ United Pharmacies(nooooooo) im pretty desperate for it I have just over 2weeks worth left!! So had a look about for alternatives....

Anyone using this? It's on sale in the uk, I normally use Proscar but was thinking of ordering these. Or should I stick to proscar?

Prosmin® | Prosmin (Finasteride) - 5mg (30 Tablets)
Main Use Active Integredient Marketed Name
Enlarged prostate gland Finasteride (5mg) Prosmin®

How does Prosmin (Finasteride) work?

Prosmin® - equivalent of Proscar® tablets contain the active ingredient finasteride, which is a type of medicine known as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Finasteride works by preventing the action of a chemical called 5-alpha reductase.

In the body, the hormone testosterone is converted to a more active form, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), by 5-alpha reductase. Finasteride blocks the action of 5-alpha reductase, and therefore prevents the activation of testosterone.

The enlargement of the prostate gland, which often occurs in men with advancing age (benign prostatic hyperplasia), is dependant upon testosterone being converted to DHT within the prostate gland. In the absence of DHT the prostate shrinks. Therefore, by decreasing the amount of DHT, finasteride helps shrink the prostate.

The prostate gland is found only in men and lies at the top of the tube connecting the bladder to the outside (urethra). Enlargement of the prostate causes it to press on the urethra and bladder and can cause urinary symptoms such as poor flow of urine. By shrinking the prostate, finasteride relieves the pressure on the bladder and urethra. This allows urine to flow freely past the prostate and relieves the urinary symptoms.

I never used generic Proscar so I won't advise on whether or not you should try Prosmin, but if you want some Proscar fairly quickish (i.e. within 2 weeks) try this lot: http://www.inhousepharmacy.co.uk/hair-l ... car15.html

If you want to stick to Merck Proscar in the long-term you should have a look here: http://www.qhi.co.uk - only reason I put the Inhouse link in is because QHI require you to print off & return a disclaimer form before your first order and inevitably this slows your initial purchase somewhat.

Yeah think I'll give Prosmin a miss and stick to what I've been taking, just wanted to ask about it.

How long are we looking at time wise? I could cut last 2 pills into 0.5 so I can get 20 @ 0.5 out of them which would give me 3 weeks and a bit as I have just cut up the 3rd pill into 5th's the yesterday.

Thanks for your help :)

Stuff from Inhouse normally gets to my front door (in Surrey) around 10 days after placing the order, give or take a day or two.
