Proscar in the uk?

Hi all, just been looking on the net at UK based pharmacies, and as far as I can tell, Proscar is not authorized for treating hairloss over here, only Propecia. Anyone here from the UK who uses Proscar? It'd save me a lot of money in the long run!

I have a prescription for generic finasteride. Costs a whopping £1 per month. (No typo).

I started on Propecia then asked my GP if I could switch to save cash, he was okay with it. I may have been lucky, but I think it's worth trying.

I also have just been prescribed generic 5mg finasteride by my GP. I just went to Tesco to collect it expecting to pay a fair amount as it's not funded by the NHS. The pharmacist told me it was £2! 4 months supply of finasteirde for £2 is an utter bargain!

The trick is to go to your GP with the prices for Propecia and tell him how much you would save by using generic Proscar and that you are able to safely divide the pill up into FIFTHS, as most GP's will not instruct you to take a dose of 1.25mg.

The pharmacist did ask me a lot of questions saying that he could not understand how I was going to divide the pill into fifths. I just said my GP prescribed me that, what is the problem?

Anyway I still haven't taken the medication yet. I'm still weighing up the pros and cons and propeciahelp isnt helping my decision

That sounds great man, I will definitely look into that. I may do what hairhoper says and start on Propecia, though. My GP was pretty much clueless about the whole thing and didn't take me very seriously, so better to take one step at a time .

Plus I've already ordered some on pharmadoctor :whistle: wanted to take things into my own hands. I will definitely look into that long term, though, that's unbelievably cheap! The fact it's from Tesco's suggests it's not gonna be a dud, either (fingers crossed).

Don't blame you for taking your time, it's scary. My opinion is that the voices that matter (the NHS and American medical profession) say the drug is 98% safe and 99.9% safe once you get off the meds, and I trust that over propeciahelp. There definitely are guys it's fucked over, which is terrible, but I think if it was as widespread as some people try and make you believe, it'd be a bigger news story. I could understand someone not wanting to do it, but for me it's a risk worth taking.

Did your doctor prescribe you Propecia or did you pay for a prescription through pharmdoctor?

I think it's very important to have your doctors backing when taking any medication. Luckily for me my doctor knew what finasteride was as soon as I mentioned it to him. He gave me a full blood test including testosterone (which all came back perfect) before prescribing me it. This is the first time he has prescribed it to anyone with Androgenetic Alopecia though.

When you do start taking it I would advise you to stay off the forums for a bit as reading too much about side effects will cause you to think you've got them.

Heh, it's good to hear someone else got a prescription. I figure it's not that hard but that most people are too scared to try.

Yes prescription generic finasteride in the UK is so cheap it's almost free. I guess we have a lot of older gents on it for prostate problems.

Paid for it. Not taking any until I'm certain, though. I'm going back to my doctor as my blood test showed high cholesterol.

Hopefully that won't affect my chances of taking finasteride. I don't think it's too serious, runs in the family, and I've started eating more sensibly anyway. Pharmadoctor still prescribed finasteride to me, and they aren't con artists. If he puts me on anything then that could change things, but that seems unlikely from what I've read.
