Proscar in Fifths: A Bad Idea

Hello, folks.

I posted a topic here awhile back about Proscar/Propecia. I mentioned that when I took Propecia I had no problems but when I started cutting them into fifths I began to have bad side-effects. Now I know why:

The active ingredient in Proscar, and some other medications, is not evenly spread throughout the tablet. Splitting a 5-milligram Proscar tablet into fifths does not mean you'll get 5 one-milligram doses of the drug. It's more likely that the drug will be divided so unevenly that the doses would be either ineffective or too strong.

So there ya have it. Any thoughts?

Temples, gonna-win has a valid point here, if you go around posting things like this above and other posters don't take the the time to reply and explain why this information in wrong, all you do is spread rumour and worry, usually it's the newbies who suffer the most as they freak out and flush their Proscar down the toilet.

This kind of posting helps no one.

In your post Temples you said you had bad side effects which started when you switched pills maybe it was just a cowincedence sometimes it takes a while for side effects to show up.

I could have posted a while back about when I changed from Avodart to Dutas (generic Avodart) as at the same time I started a big shed or it could have been the fact I had taken Avodart for 3 mths and then went to a hot country the same time I swopped over so it could have been a summer shed due to the heat and the fact Avodart causes most people to shed at the 3 mths stage.

The point I am making is that these are all cowincedences. I did not make a post and scare new people away from pills like generics of finasteride or dutasteride.

I am not a scare monger and will never be. If you have a problem ask a question or better still use the search function first please.

What amazes me is the other 500000 posts that causes people to freak out, and yet Temples is getting bashed. Give the guy some respect already, we are in this for one cause, no need for such harsh words. JEBUS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah but Temples did post it in a manner to say "oh thats why i'm having side effects" which is misleading. He did not just say i found this article interesting. But due credit, he was soliciting for opinions.

Seems weird how all of a sudden this information of cutting up proscar has just surfaced, and we know Merck are not happy about it effecting their precious profits. I think that misinformation has been purposely spread around in such places as the Denver post to counter people buying the cheaper proscar.

I agree with how fast misinfo spreads, but if people are that gulliable to believe it, then they deserve to lose their hair. I think everyone relieved mine and warrior-101's concerns. It just could have been done without the personal insults and death threats.

I am not so sure, when I first started this battle I would rub cat's piss into my hair if someone told me it would work, indeed I spent some of my hard earned money on FABAO 101 (hhmmmm...great stuff) because that's the missinformation I first found on the internet. I am not so sure I deserved to lose my hair because I didin't know about effective treatments.

I am not so sure anyone deserves to loose their hair because they don't know what is right and what is wrong in the the snow storm of missinformation and scam blowing around the internet.

I plan on posting a first-hand account about my own side-effects after making the switch to Proscar when I get more time.

I don't take them to heart. It's just that I've posted/visited a lot of message boards in my day, and rarely have I seen such a brutal statement. It really takes away from their argument. No class.
