Stemcell research is the future and I don´t think it will matter who sits at the white house.

I would have thought male pattern baldness would be way down on the list of areas of research, below other life threatening conditions ?

I don't know much about this kind of thing and understand the hairloss market would be massive , but I am not so sure it will be at the front on the researchers priorities ??????

Depends what level of pressure is applied to the scientists and directors of those companies involved in the research. The fairly standard "I know where you live" type of threatening letter should get things rolling in the right direction.

Guys--

The fact that there are many applications for stem cell research doesn't mean that they aren't all being looked into.

Just because we have countless people being diagnosed with cancer every day doesn't mean that that millions of dollars aren't also going to be put into developing the latest decongestants or vitamin pills.

No one is saying that every scientist is going to be jumping in and making hair-loss their priority research.

But there will be some. I'm entirely sure there is already research on this subject taking place as we speak. Give it time.

It doesn´t really matter what area the focus on since progress will be comulative - meaning that solutions in one field probably will benifit several fields.

As I understand it cancer is one of the biggest fears with stemcell application so all progress within the field of cancer is good news. Another thing is research on epithelial and basallamina regeneration which should be very important for a broad range of treatements (burns, transplants etc).

So it´s not just specifik stemcell research but the entire field and as someone who is pretty close to the field I can tell you that in sweden it´s almost enough to imply that you want to look at stemcells to get financial backing.

The health industry as a whole is focusing on western society problems and hairloss is among those - even if it´s pretty far down on the scale. The problem as I see it is that you can´t package a anti-hairloss product - it should be a "one application fix".

3 billion going into a private company that can shut it's doors against the government... Don't be suprised if that company goes under for no reason.

I live in Cali and I sure as hell voted against it. My question for these people who passed the proposition is where in the hell are we going to get the money for this?! We are in a lot of debt as it is.

As with many healt conditions I think that researching the stem cells will lead to some sort of discovery on male pattern baldness probably as a result of studying some other type of problem.
