Hey guys! I am kinda unsure if i am going to go bald or not, I still have a really good head of hair. So my question i guess is if i am starting to go bald (it would be very, very early stages) and i started taking propecia how long could i expect to keep my current head of hair.

From what i have read the guys that go bald early have hair loss very early late teens, early 20's ( i am 27 and may or may not have some thining in the back, with a norwood 1.5/2 or mature hairline). So what can i expect if i am showing the very earliest signs of balding and start taking propecia just in case?

My moms dad was fully bald but he had a lot of heart problems and took a lot of medication ( i have read that heart medication can speed up baldiness or cause it), my dad has a receeding hairline that prob started in his mid 50's, but still has a fair amount of hair at 60 with no treatment, everyone else in my family has a full head of hair.

If you started taking Propecia, there is a very good chance that you will be able to keep your hair for a very long time. The only official studies that show the length of propecia's effectiveness were recorded over a 5 year span. If my memory serves me, 90% of the men taking propecia over the 5 years had no further visible hair loss, compared to only 25% in the placebo group. Also, 65% of the men had increased hair-counts over 5 years, while all of the men in the placebo group lost hair.

So basically, you can count on reversing, or slowing down your hairloss significantly if you were to start on a finasteride regimen. Hope this helps!
