Hi All,
I have been checking out this website for a whille now & I have found it very helpful.

I wanted your opinion on weather or not I should take propecia? I am 26 & im reseeding quickly (see photos), its really getting me down.

All i have tried is Viviscal & its not much help.

I have checked out this website http://www.propeciahelp.com & it has seriously scared me.

So is Propecia / Proscar worth it?

Thanks in advance for any advice ye may have.

Worth is something that is self defined. Do I think it is worth going on propecia...yes. I don't want ot lose my hair. Would it help you? It should help halt the hair loss. You will most likely not grow anything back where there are smooth areas. Best of luck to you.

qball thanks for the quick response.

Have you had any side affects & has it worked for you?

i dont think it makes sense to ask an individual if it works. if it works/doesnt work for qball, it doesnt mean youll go down the same path. just know that propecia (finasteride) is the most potent thing on the market for hair loss right now. it works for many people. i think 65-80% of people at least keep their hair for a while. and side effects show up in about 2% of users. plus the sides are relatively mild, and should go away if you stop using the propecia

I'm not sure what the rest of your hair looks like, but propecia might not help your hairline, it generally works better in the crown/vertex region. If the frontal area is what you are looking to fix, you should seriously consider a combination of finasteride and minoxidil.

Thanks for all your replies.

Timbo:
The rest of my hair is ok (i think im a NW3), i dont have a bald batch at the top of my head (YET!),
Im thinking of taking the following:

Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar)

Minoxidil (Rogaine, Regaine)

Ketozale (Nizoral Shampoo)

Folligen

does anyone know a realiable online store to get these (can you pm me if anone does thanks) & do you think its a good idea taking the above to improve my hairline?

i'm 27, been on propecia 2 years, no side effects, wish i had started earlier.

like most have said it doesn't help much on the hairline, so you might consider applying minoxidil foam there. don't expect much regrowth, foam is more about maintenance.

if you truly don't have any thinning on the crown congrats. once my temples had got to where yours were i was definitely developing a bit of a spot (gone now thanks to finasteride).

treeshrew,

thanks for the response.

Did you experince any shedding from the regaine foam?
I have heard alot of stories abot that & i am worried about using it.

I was hoping it would improve my hairline.

I & my borother (25, who has a worse hairline than me) will start taking the below in the next couple of weeks.
I will post pictures of both of us a time goes on.

Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar)

Minoxidil (Rogaine, Regaine)

Ketozale (Nizoral Shampoo)
Folligen

I haven't had any side effects. I have been on it for 3 months now and have noticed an improvement in hair density and quality. I haven't been taking pictures, but I am sometimes away from my home for a month at a time and the last time I returned, my wife told me that my hair looked a lot thicker and darker. Can I attribute this to the finasteride? I have no clue since I have also been using 1% nizoral shampoo every day and polysorbate 80 2xday. I am betting that the finasteride has a lot to do with it. If it can maintain my head of hair for the next 10-15 years, I will be a happy camper. Best of luck to you.

yes, i experienced a pretty nasty shed from minoxidil foam and even made a thread on it. it kicked in around week 3, but had all completely grown back by week 5, and i haven't lost a hair on the temples since. however, it hasn't grown any new hair either. but i'm happy with maintenance, i just wish i had started earlier since my temples have already recessed quite a bit.

oh, and that shed was only from applying once a day at night, it probably would have been way worse if i had been applying twice a day. sheds are good though, it means it's working!
