Propecia - when can visible results be expected?

Long story short... I've been using minoxidil for 8 months... and just added propecia to my regimen early last month. These 2 FDA approved meds for hair loss are marketed more so for crown hair loss. I am 27 and only have hair loss in the crown - it's thin/thinning not totally slick bald either.

So far the minix hasn't done much - I went through an early shed about 2 months into and haven't had any sheds since. I've noticed a slight increase in wispy hair at the crown but I can't say for certain that it wasn't here before. Will propecia kick in soon? So far no sexual side effects.

Ditch minoxidil, you don't seem to be a great responder. Will save you money and side effects. Growth stimulants give quick success usually.

minoxidil doesnt do much without finasteride. Unless you have severe hair loss. I would give it a few more months to see if the finasteride helps.

Imo that's wrong. He will now get results from finasteride and keep taking Minoxidil as he thinks it's doing something. If minoxidil did pretty much nothing for 8 months, it's quite obvious it's not for him. It helps about 2/3 of people.

You can get results from Minoxidil alone - but it will most likely be short term.

Finasteride will help minoxidil getting results. Alone it MAY help 2/3 of people with severe hairloss. Never seen it help anyone with mild hairloss by itself.

So you're saying Minoxidil only helps advanced baldies not mild sufferers? This goes against everything advised for hair loss treatment in general.

BY ITSELF yes i do believe that. A lot of people on the forum wont recommend minoxidil to someone who is just losing hair on temples and such.. I speak from experience, from what my doctors told me, and from what ive read on the forum.

No disrespect to you but that just what i came to believe.

It's ok. I welcome your opinion! We are all trying to help each other dude :)

Interesting idea. My thoughts were that people who are severely bald will definitely need to use both and even then it may not be enough. Are you on finasteride or just minoxidil? Has it helped?

Severely balding usually get good results on minoxidil.
Ive been on minoxidil alone for about 1 year and a half. No results only further recession. Last month i added finasteride. Cant tell anything yet. My fingers are crossed.

I know a guy who had great result with minoxidil alone. He looks completely different after using minoxidil for one year. I am on minoxidil for 6 months so far. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to do much for me so far.
