Hello! I have been using propecia for almost 5 years and I would like to switch to proscar now, because it's much cheaper. Are there any problems with switcing. I mean sheds or side effects :( , because u don't get exactly same amount of finasteride every day. I don't know what is better, cutting on 4 or 5 pieces? What do you think and what experience do you have? Thx and have a nice time! :yeah:

Yea, good question, my 1 year prescription of Propecia is out, and since now my parents won't pay for it, I'm thinking about switching to Proscar.

Don't do it! It will cause your penis to fall off! Stick with only 100% propecia!

Seriously, switch away without worries. I would try to get it to 5 pieces so you get the same dosage as you have been (1mg). Or, try lower dosage as shown in my signature.

I would say it has been working well. I added nizoral shampoo 5 months ago and it's ok. I don't think propecia lost any effectivnes, but I didn't get full regrow. So you guys think there are no problems with switching. I was thinking there could be some problems, because one day you took 0,9 mg, next day 1,1 mg,... I think that body adjust to one dose and there could be problems, when this dose is not the same every day.

There shouldn't be a probelm with switching. There haven't been people coming here saying "I switched to proscar and I had a huge shed", and if there hasn't been a complaint on this board, you know it doesn't exist.

Hey guys, I just wanted to throw this out there -

I asked this same question to a consultant at the DR's office.

He said that while it is basically the same active drug, Proscar was related somehow to the prostate, and that certain insurance companies would later frown upon extended use of a prostate related medication in a younger adult. In other words, if you had prostate problems at 45 they might point at the fact that you started using Proscar at say 25..

I wish I had taken verbatim notes.

I didnt know what to think of this, and I have no clue to what is right or wrong in this case. I personally spend the cash for the real stuff right now.

Would someone in the know like to comment on this?

Thanks!
