Hi all,

New to forum but I have a quick question. The patent int he UK for Propecia should have expired this month, yet I still can't buy generic 1mg from any of the pharmacies. Does anyone know why this is? I'm 3 days from running out of my £90 for 3 months prescription so I need to decide ASAP whether to do same again or go down the £179 for a years supply of generic 5mg and cut them up.

Many thanks,

My GP isn't willing to do this. I've asked a couple of times. I've been getting an NHS private prescription from him for 2 years now for 1mg, but fed-up paying £90 for 3 months supply.

The patent ran out on the 5th November 2013 so I would have though other companies would have manufactured a 1mg pill by now and have it on the market. I do not understand the delay?! I've went down the ukfinasteride (Dr Singh) option and paid for 14-month supply of generic 5mg. I hope it's legit!

Thanks,
L

I presume it would take some time before pharmaceuticals begin producing it - the patent only expired less than a month ago, surely there would be all sorts of testing etc. before they can release their own brand.

Regarding ukfinasteride? If the site down? I wanted to buy some from there but when I went on today the site will not load. I usually buy from Dr. Ashcroft but on this occasion have not received any response from him.

Hi,

Its been a while since the last reply, and I am a little confused. I can see from this forum, that a generic propecia is now available in the US. Does anyone know when it will be available in UK and the rest of Europe?
