this has been bugging me for a while.. why do people choose to use Propecia over the much cheaper Proscar?

Is it because they think its safer?
Can't be bothered cutting Proscar?
Doctor won't prescribe?
Say propecia, but using proscar?
Have money to burn?

Just interested !

All of the above plus a few more random things.

The biggest thing is most people do absolutely no research on it. Which is fine, some just want to go with what the doctor says and be on their way.

I got my brother in-law started on his regimen and he refuses to cut Proscar. He has a ton of cash so whatever he wants to do, as long as he does something about it.

Plus I doubt a lot of doctors have linked the two when they discuss this with their patients. My doctor said I was the first one to ever ask for it.

I use propecia over proscar for some of the reasons you mentioned.

1- Dosage will be slightly different (although you'll still be getting 5mg finasteride over 4or5 days)
2- Derm says he can't prescribe it.
3- I don't really trust the generic proscar.

Believe me, I'd love to spend around $50 for about a year's supply of generic proscar but I wouldn't have any peace of mind. I'll probably switch to genuine proscar at some point...I wish I could get a prescription for it though.
