(CNN) -- A study released Tuesday indicates that a drug used to treat male pattern baldness reduces the odds of getting prostate cancer by about 25 percent.

But there's some bad news: The same study seems to show that if a man taking finasteride does get the disease, the drug appears to increase his chance of getting a more aggressive form.

this is old news and some people doubt the results of this study.

This article has been posted on here more than a few times as well as on hairlosshelp. It's over 3 years old.

and people are unsure whether it really increases the chances of u having more agressive cancer, which doesn't mean im telling u to take finasteride to prevent prostate cancer!

it's kind of ridiculous. the 1000 men on finasteride had 22 cases of high-grade tumors and the 1000 not on finasteride had 18 cases. that's a difference of 4 people in a population of 2000. is that really that siginificant for us on finasteride to be worrying??
