I just read recently that some people feel slower mentally after starting finasteride?...ie. slower at solving problems, studying becomes harder etc.etc.

Just wanted to see how many people on this site are experiencing the samething?

HairyN:

I read allot of posts and this is the first time I've seen this question brought up. The answer to your question is obvious so I'm not even going to bother touching on the many reasons propecia wouldn't affect your intellegence. Your being overly paranoid.

First time I heard this too. I been on finasteride for a year now an I is not any less smarter. At least I think so

The only way it could make you less inteligent is if you do all of your thinking with your dick.

Well, it could be a million differant things. Propecia most like has nothing to do with it though. Unless of course the increase in estrogen somehow effects thing.

well i guess i should just blow off all input of the posts here then

the answer to my question is not obvious...so unless you have some sort of degree in biochemistry please keep the empty, unhelpful posts to yourself...who can say they have complete and absolute knowledge of what suppressing the 5ar enzyme does to the human body?

its not paranoia...its keeping my mind open...if i was paranoid...i would have never ordered it

It doesn't seem too unreasonable to me that things like hairloss and the ride you take trying to treat it can get you seriously down at times, to the point where maybe it would cause you to slow down in some areas.

Heh.

At one point I actually thought this was the case.

Then I realized that when I look back at myself in my late teens/early 20's....the fact is, I'm just not as smart as I thought I was then.

This is the end result of every ***-faced cockmaster on these sites thinkin' they're a f*****g genius. b**ch please.

Hairyn: The answer is obvious and by using common sense you can come to the conclusion that a drug affecting DHT should have no impact on the human brain and it's function. That hairlosshelp thread is basically people who are worried perpetuating their fear and making other's consider whether maybe they haven't felt as sharp the last little while.

Well all I have to say is, f*** me I'm glad I found this website first and not the above mentioned. Seriously dude you can't take a biology lesson from every fool on earth. I'm not going to write an article here but if you are knowledgeable and know your facts it's going to help you to weed out the chaff.

just trying to keep an open mind here thats all...i did a little reading into the subject myself and this is what i came up with...i was surprised to see that it was Patrick Arnold who authored this article...take a look

for those of you who dont know who Patrick Arnold is...just google his name and im pretty sure you'll find a plethora of bios and interviews

i think this article would also explain some of the reactions people have such as HairLossTalk.com's skin hypersensitivity

http://www.musclemonthly.com/articles/0 ... terone.htm

the 3rd paragraph down in the "Testosterone is the active androgen in muscle" section is interesting

Thanks for posting that Hairyn I'm surprised at some of the responses to your post. How do these guys know what finasteride will do to each individual's body? finasteride could very well have an effect on our neurological activity and simply because some haven't experienced a certain side effect doesn't mean others wont.

That article was not only written by an accredited scientist, it also had absolutely no agenda whatsoever.

You guys have got to understand - the net is the best source for information in the world, but it is also the biggest source of misinformation in the world as well.

Search hard enough and you can find anything that will suit your argument. Cigarettes are good for you, McDonald's won't make you fat....et cetera.

As far as I know there's two types of 5AR(5AR1 and 5AR2), I have heard that 5AR1 effects the nuerons, but finasteride mostly suppresses the 5AR2 enzyme. Of course over an extended period of time it could have a side effect but it's a proven safe drug.
