hey guys, as you know i have been on propecia for 2 years , with no result for stopping my hairloss .
i thought propecia wasn't working but the right explanation is that my hairloss is too agressive for propecia .

because i have a twin brother ( real twin) , he was also on propecia for 20 month , but he has stopped for 7 month , and now; he is almost worst than me . he has experimented the catch up hairloss .

So i was right propecia help to stop the progression of the loss , but in my case this is too agressive .
I strongly consider duta despite the fact of beign gyno prone .

you would rather be bald than having a gyno ? that is the dilemna that i am facing .
beign bald i would kill myself , but having a gyno is horrible too .

man i am 100% sure that duta can halt everyone hairloss . or at least maintain a Norwood 4 . this is better than nothing .
duta is bullet proff for Androgenetic Alopecia . in term of maintenance of mid scalp and crown .
BUT we know the sides . 0 dht to counter oestrogenic effect = 100% gyno or uffy nipples for those who are prone .
And even for those who are not after 2 or 3 years .
give the body enough time in such an unbalanced envrionment and the sides kick in .

This explanation makes total sense.
My heart goes out to those who suffer from hairloss which is more aggressive than what Finasteride is able to maintain.
Having had a small lump surgically removed almost 20 years ago (way before hairloss became noticeable), I know I am definitely gyno-prone (yet still staying on Finasteride 1mg/day). Personally, I would prefer persisting with Finasterid while taking precautions such as keeping lean/exercise. I have tried Tongkat Ali supplements before; it's unclear whether it helped.

is your puffy nipples worse while on propecia ? propecia is working well for your hair ?

They had not been puffy since the surgical removal, and only started becoming slightly puffy since beginning Finasteride 12 months ago...I'm also experiencing the lack of libido but I perceive the potential of hair maintenance as priority.

I'd say I gained some ground in the crown/vertex, and some vellus hair on the temples have become darker and more visible (a few mm growth), although not growing any longer. Most notable difference was around 4-6 months, and since then little to no progress. I added RU since Sep this year, but noticed no difference.

You see it was not your "fault" if you were balding?
It is in the unfortunate DNA loci that dictate it sooner or later...

i know roberto but this is harsh when you realize that propecia is not enough. i am not crazy i will not take spironolactone or such med. but i would have liked to try duta , but this is too much for my body ( gyno) .

when I was on finasteride I lost a LOT of hair. Like 20-30% density all around. When I came OFF finasteride, I lost a LOT of hair. Again, like another 20-30%. In the last two years, I've lost about 60% of the density I had.

Why are you assuming that it's just one thing, androgens? It could EASILY be that finasteride gave you Telogen Effluvium when you took it, and it gave you Telogen Effluvium when you stopped. It may have done absolutely NOTHING but given you Telogen Effluvium. That's exactly what happened to me. It was a sh*t, b**ch drug for my body that my body EASILY counteracted. didn't regrow a single hair. In counter acting it, it just gave me Telogen Effluvium. In coming off and my body getting back to normal, the same thing.

man maybe you are an exception but propecia doesnt caus Telogen Effluvium , maybe minoxidil .
for me it was just a steady recession and miniaturization

um, yes it does.

do you understand fully what Telogen Effluvium is? It is a rapid increase in telogen hairs due to a TRAUMA to the body. It's been reported over and over again that hormonal fluctuations can cause it. My mother went on estrogen, she got Telogen Effluvium. I INCREASED my testosterone by going on finasteride? I got Telogen Effluvium.

You should consult @ForeverLacey about this, because it happened to her as well... or just google "finasteride Telogen Effluvium"

man i perfectly know what it is ^^. maybe i am lucky because i never get this , for me this is just a constant miniaturization , this is the worst . BEcause you can recover from a Telogen Effluvium but not iniaturzation when you are a non responder to treatment .

I never recover from Telogen Effluvium. Most people with male pattern baldness do not recover from Telogen Effluvium, especially if treatments aren't working.

yes i learn it the hard way ; with minoxidil i got a Telogen Effluvium at the hairline ; minatrized hair AND healthy hair . only a part of it recovered , lost 1/2 norwood .
really i don't recommend minoxidil

the worst thing is taht now i am sensitive to puffy nipples and gyno . i wasnt at all even during puberty. But in order to keep my hair i will have to keep some puffy nipples and to check every 3 month to see if the gyno is fibrosing .
Like this i can avoid permanent puffy nipples .
I hope the cure will be here soon because it will be a painful road , and costly .
this is the worst because the only part of me i am proud is my body ( gymcelling crew checking in) , but not worst it without hair .

dude, you don't understand what Telogen Effluvium is. sorry. and, I would put my money a thousand times on finasteride causing Telogen Effluvium over minoxidil. I seriously, seriously doubt minoxidil 5% could cause Telogen Effluvium.

This is exactly why I switched from finasteride to dutasteride ...And consider myself very lucky to have read her report when I was very early into my HRT.
