Hi everyone, I’m a 21yrs male who started taking propecia on December 1st. Joined Boots pharmacy hair retention program in the UK and they were awesome! Sat down with a pharmacist who went over my options and took photos of my current hairline which he reckons is still Norwood 1 but is beginning to thin. All I can say it was great to talk to someone about it and he clearly knew a lot about the subject. I have read most of the science on the subject including the effects of dht etc and he explained what I had already researched in great detail. Anyway hopefully this med will have some affect on my hair even if all I do is keep my baseline.

To the users of this site, great to get information on treatments on the big 3 etc some people have been real helpful! However there is way too much negativity out there!! Remember its only hairloss your not dying. Reading on here about people feeling suicidal, moving away from family etc? where’s the fighting sprit? I view this more as a challenge and besides Regaine and Propecia are around 80-90% successful in most people! Side effects appear minimal... few people on here being way to precious. Even if they fail there is always hair transplants etc... try reading Lance Armstrong’s book if you want to read about someone facing up to real problems.

Anyway will check in with progress in 3 months time, keep up the good work everyone we are the lucky ones who are at least being proactive in our hairloss fight!

hopefully they work for you but success rates are far below 90% (especially for minoxidil). also check out the propeciahelp.com forums to learn more about possible side effects (including permanent ED, penile shrinkage, breast growth, permanent loss of sex drive, etc) not saying it happens to everyone but finasteride is a powerful drug that messes with your hormones. i'm planning to start finasteride but will get a complete hormone profile done first to have on record in case anything goes wrong.

Well for starters congrats on the beginning of your hairloss treatment, But your just at the beginning a lot of people get down when they are at the end and nothing has changed aside from the fact that propecia did nothing and their hairloss has worsened, It's good to be optimistic but everyone has their breaking point don't judge those who find theirs through hairloss and failed hairloss treatments, some people just get effected differently, and no, hairloss will not kill you at least not directly but to some in this day in age bad appearance may as well be death, we are a very very vain culture and some people are just hypersensitive to that.

:nono: I'll admit I've only visited that site once..and it did seem full of a lot of well just paranoid people who expected a miracle cure, didn't get one and want to b**ch about it.
However if even 5% of those stories are true it is still pretty tragic and it's not for us to hate on those who fair badly when it comes to side effects.
