First post here but been lurking for a while,

Anyway I am 19 years old and have a receding hairline probably just a NW2, no one would notice or comment atm. My mum's side is ok but there is a strong history of male pattern baldness on my dad's side. My dad himself is a NW4/5, this brings me to my first question.. how likely is it that I will follow a very similar balding pattern to him? Do father and son generally follow a similar pattern or is it impossible to predict?

I decided that I wanted to do something about it and got on proscar which I quarter daily, I've now been on it a week and I've felt no side effects whatsoever which is a relief. To get to the point I just wanted to ask how effective people genuinely find finasteride to be, do you think I have a good chance to maintain what I have for a while to come? I'm not really concerned with regrowth and don't expect it but wouldn't complain obviously :p

In a perfect world proscar would continue maintaining for me long enough for those lazy scientists to sort HM out ;)

Anyways, cheers for any help/experience you guys can share with me.

Interesting topic that has never been asked before.

I've only recently started .5mg finasteride 1-day. So I can't contribute anything meaningful.

Besides that, would anyone here know how I can install Twitter onto my fax machine?

TIA

Perfect Disguise,
I've been on Finasteride since I was 20 years old when I started to thin. That was 13 years ago, and I've maintained 90% of my hair since then. My dad was a NW5 by the time he was my age, and I'm positive I would have been there too if it wasn't for finasteride.

i'd say you're good. i started finasteride like a half a month before i turned 19 and i've seen what i think are pretty good results so far - that was only like 4 - 5 months ago. the peace of mind it gives you is also pretty huge, to finally know you're doing something other than just worrying about hairloss.
