Just go to a doctor, and ask him to prescribe you generic Propecia or 5 mg Proscar that you can cut into 1/4s. It's so damn expensve on this website!!

The three-month plan at Boots is £90, or £30/month, which may be more expensive than Proscar or other finasteride, but less expensive than obtaining Propecia through other clinics.

I haven't heard about Propecia being prescribed through a regular doctor; at least it's unlikely in the UK. I've heard about Proscar or other finasteride being prescribed through a doctor, but those are unofficial treatments and there's no guarantee they'll hand out a prescription for a cosmetic issue.

As far as the effects on hair loss go, it seems that people here generally contend that Propecia is the same as any other 1mg of finasteride, although the ingredients may technically be different. Also, it hasn't been proven that using a pill-cutter to cut Proscar into fifths results in 1mg finasteride in each fifth; but whether any differences are significant enough for a noticeable effect is also unknown.
