Read the second message in this link- the person is saying that Propecia is good every 2nd day- this way you extend your prescription twice as long, save money, and it is just as effective. (Of course the manufacturer won't tell you this- they'd lose money)- I think I might start doing this, taking it every other day...

rawbbie,

that is a forum member expressing opinion, what made you draw the conclusion that every other day is as effective as every day? besides this guy saying so?

I haven't really concluded this, I was thinking on taking it every second day upon others' opinions in here.

My question is, is one day's doseage sufficient enough to keep DHT levels down for two days? I wouldn't rule it out, yet I'm no scientist on it.. but if so, then why not save twice the money?

finasteride builds up in the body over time, so I think it would be ok to take this approach, but taking less finasteride will give you less results.

A dose of 5mg finasteride will inhibit more DHT from forming that a dose of 1mg of finasteride.

And a 1mg dose will inhibit more than a 0.5mg dose.

....it's dose dependant (although the dose/DHT inhibition relationship is not linear)

The serum level of DHT remains suppressed at about the same levels the day you skip as compared to day you take 1 mg finasteride.

I take 1.25mg finasteride every other day which is in the long term is going to save me an awful lot of ££

There is absolutely no evidence to show that skipping finasteride every other day won't have the same effects as taking it daily.

According to one senior poster on HLH:

"several leading hair transplant surgeons all recommend skipping finasteride every other day. Some doctors tell their patients to use the daily dose because the patients don't comply with the skip dose properly because they can't remember the schedule. I don't know a single surgeon that says skipping finasteride every other day is a bad idea."
