Propecia breasts starting to enlarge already?

I have been on Propecia, 0.5mg every other day since last friday, so I just took my 3rd pill today. I am already noticing a very slight amount of fattyness behind my nipples, especially around my left one.

I'll just say that it is paranoia from me for now, but my nipples do feel softer when I press on them, though not really tender just yet.

I just want to know from other people that have had gyno or noticed any sort of breast enlargement, where do you notice the enlargement? Does the fat build up behind the nipple and then spread out, or is it all over the chest in general?

Yes it is very unlikely, the amount I notice is very small. I run 5 miles a day so my chest is very tight and its easy for me to notice a little bit of flux.
But gyno is my greatest concern and I am wondering exactly what to look out for. Do the breasts usually become tender first.

I didn't know about Gyno when i started 3 years back... was never a concern, perhaps my breasts did enlarge a bit, but now knowing about it as of 2 months ago reading on this site, it concerns me more only because i analyse it. If i have gyno as a result of Proscar... then it has leveled out to a point where its stabilised... dont go thinking your going to get D cup b**ch tits...

i EXPERIENCED THE BREAST ENLARGEMENT (OOPS SOORY) back in the late 90's. It happened very gradually over 8 months - so if you're only on the 3rd tab - you're still wayyyy into the safety zone.

Before you see any tissue enlargement - you'll notice a bit of a nipple burn & pain - like it'll hurt if even your nip rubs up against the inside of your shirt.

pain and burn first - and then possible breast enlargement.

re:

Three pills and gyno. That's great stuff. Watch out, if you take that forth pill you will never be able to get a hard on and your penis will shrink..........

I've been on propecia almost 2 weeks now and the burning in my nipples is unbearable. I wonder if such reaction to the drug is due the fact I had slight gyno 8 years ago from puberty. I'll try to cut down the dose, and eventually discontinue the drug if tenderness doesn't go away.

I'm so pissed off. I really hoped propecia would stop my hair loss problem, and now this sh*t.

Exactly. An aromatase inhibitor should do the trick. You might even try to take 125ml of red wine everyday and 25-50ml of flax oil, I think that would reduce your chances of developing gyno.
Nonetheless, if you want to go the 'chemistry route' 0.25mg of anastrozole daily, or even less, should work ok. If you already have gyno pain take tamoxifen for a few weeks.

Hmm if you do get gyno you should probably stop taking the drug. I don't think taking another drug to counteract the effects of another is a good idea. I mean what if you get sides from the other drug? Take another?

I don't see why it wouldn't be. I think that, even if there's no gyno, everybody should be taking an aromatase blocker along with their 5AR blocker as a measure of prevention.

It's a little bit more complicated than that... If you take a 5AR blocker, for reasons I've already explained in other posts, your estrogen agonism is going to be SUPRAphysiological, so you take an aromatase inhibitor to lower estrogen levels an so keep a balanced estrogen/androgen ratio, which isn't going to be balanced if you just take finasteride/dutasteride and don't take anything else in order to get estrogens under control.

Fair enough you seem to know a lot more than me. But i think if you going to start taking them you should be supervised by a doctor if your just buying them off the internet because some bloke told you to its really not wise. You could end up doing yourself a lot of damage. And obviously if your doing this then your going to be buying the drugs off the net which could cause another problem.

Yeah, I'd tend to agree, but the problem with doctors is that they generally refuse to prescribe anti-estrogens to men... to them antiestrogens are just medicines to be used to treat women with breast cancer and, for some reason, they just see antiestrogens as anticancer pills that should NEVER be taken unless you are a woman with breast cancer. I think that it has to do with a possible unconscious link they might create between chemo and these drugs; given the fact that both are used to treat cancer and that chemo is dangerous they erroneusly conclude that anti-Es are also very dangerous, which is completely nonsense.
Besides, where would you draw the 'never cross' line? Would you consider dangerous taking a small glass of red wine daily? Well, red wine or red grapeseed juice probably have an antiestrogen potency similar to that of medicines such as arimidex.
As far as ending up doing oneself a lot of damage... well, I don't think much more damage than you might expect using finasteride/dutasteride by itself and allowing your estrogen/androgen ratio going thru the roof! :)

Thanks Triton. Im gonna visit an endocrinologist, ask his opinion and try to get a precription for anti-e drugs. If he refuses I might get them of the net.

Oh and I just popped a bottle of wine... :)

I'll keep you updated

Ok so you're suggesting that I'm making this up and the chest pain is only my imagination ?
I'd had no idea about this possible side effect before I bought the drug. Ive started reading these forums only since the problems started... Paranoia is not the issue here... believe me...

were did you hear this? Is this fact or conjecture? I have some red wine, how much do you need to drink for it to have any impact?

I dont know where you grew up wang, but for me, I only knew ONE kid who had gyno during puberty. When we got changed in gym class kids used to hand crap on the poor kid...I never knew what was wrong with his chest, but now i do. I have never seen another kid with this problem. It is hardly the "norm" as you seem to indicate, wang.
