propecia and renewing prescriptions

Maybe a stupid question. If I get a prescription from say a dermatologist and its for say 5 months and I have to take it for the rest of my life can I just call in a refill? I really have to visit this dermatologist every 5 months for the rest of my life to just get a renewal on my prescription? isnt that kind of stupid?

Mine lasts for a year as well. Your derm just wants the office visit premium imo.

Mine is 5 months. Do I have to go back and see him every time for a refill? You have to take this forever and he expects me back every 5 months? Maybe ill see my doctor for 10 dollars and just have him write me refills. There is no way I can just phone in a refill and tell them I have to take it for life?

i said no...you pick of the telephone and they will do it over the phone!!!!

Does that vary for each office or they will renew over the phone anywhere? Who do I speak with or ask to have that renewed would the secretary do it or she will ask the dermatologist and have him ok it?
