Hello,

I started taking 5% minoxidil and propecia at the same time - 4weeks ago.
I started shedding after a couple of weeks of treatment - this has just slowed down to about my normal rate of hairloss.
I have noticed tiny hairs regrowing on my right temple ( not left :-( )

My question is.

How do i know what products are working since i started using them both at the same time?

Its a concern taking propecia if it is not working, as you may well understand.

I have had no side affects.

Thanks for yourhelp

Hard to say but it could be both are doing the job synergystically. Keep up the good work. Don't give up either one. :D :D :D :D

too early, u shouldnt be noticing any regrowth at all
i agree, too damn early for any treatment to really work. however, minoxidil has been reported as working as early as 2 months. minoxidil should work before the propecia, however they do work synergistically (sp?)

NCloutter, I think it is too early for the Finasteride to be kicking in and would attribute your regrowth to the minoxidil. I say so because I'm using a Minoxidil-based regimen myself, and after about 5 weeks or so I too noticed regrowth of tiny hairs in my upper temples. The thing that I find funny is that I noticed the same phenomenon... one of my temples responded far better than the other! I asked a few people here about that, and was told that as your hair grows in a spiral each of us has a weaker temple, which has been affected slightly longer than the other by male pattern baldness.

After 2 1/4 months, these hairs are now over an inch long on my temple and there are others following in their place. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a new carpet over my temples, my temples are still effectively bald. These hairs are slightly curlier than the hairs on my center scalp, but after a few hair cycles I'm hoping that they get a bit thicker and while they probably will not eliminate my temple balding, they very much look on course to lower my temple hairline an inch or so.

I can't write more enthusiastically about what minoxidil has done for me. I know I might be one of the more successful responders to it and others may not be, but I just love taking my surprisingly lengthened center forehead 'widows peak' hair and pulling it down towards my eyebrows. Before minoxidil, those guys would get curly and brittle after growing longer than an inch!

You will not know about these drugs "working" for 6-9 months at best. Hang in there, you are using the right stuff.

Good luck
