Come on bubka, you've been in this side long enough to know that a shed is LIKELY...

The fact is that a normal person sheds anything between 50 and 100 hairs a day. What we are talking about here is a finasteride/minoxidil induced shed. I had a bit of a shed, but I don't know what caused it. I think I had both minoxidil and finasteride shed, both minor. I think my hair line is worse than it was 2 months ago, but I can see that it's improving.
Oh I am not denying that. I personally believe I experience possible a period of increased loss. I have not seen any "research" with hair count that this as some people have reported instant reduction in loss as well. So who knows where the real average is? The research however shows that one average, hair count continues to increase until about the 1 year mark.

All hairloss treatments come with a warning that they may cause initial increase in hairloss. If that's not scientific, then what is scientific? I'm talking about FDA approved products here like finasteride and minoxidil, they both say that they are likely to cause a shed.

Honestly, that's not on my FDA Propecia insert or on my minoxidil container.

It's been a long time since I've bought a bottle of Rogaine (like years), but I don't recall ever seeing anything in the instructions or in the package insert about the likelihood or even the possibility of a so-called "shed". Could that be a more recent addition to the package insert? Please copy verbatim what they say in the instructions that came with your finasteride and minoxidil.

BTW, I'll add here that I've NEVER, not even one single time, ever seen anything about so-called "shedding" in all the finasteride and minoxidil studies that I've read, and you can take my word for it when I say that I've read a ton of them.

research shows yes that propecia does cause a bit of shedding so within the first 3months of treatment you are likely to lose a bit of density.
Where is this "research" ??? I have not seen it.

read it a while ago- probably on here or somewhere similar.

i havent been on finasteride that long, had a bit of shedding which seems to have stopped, first couple of weeks it gave me acne which has cleared- its now a case of waiting to see over the next few months what happens.

freeload....anything more severe? any libido loss, erection problems, watery semen?

There is only one way to find out if you get any sides or not, and that is to try it for yourself. Statistically, you are very unlikely to have any serious sides. Any sides that you might experience should subside in a few weeks time.

Acne is a sign of having increased testosterone, which probably results in increased libido as well. However, a decreased libido is more commonly reported side effect.

so far so good, but its early days yet - the proof of its effectiveness will become apparent over the next few months.

*sigh* Read my success thread and judge for yourself. Watery sperm aside, it's all good.

I've gotten great regrowth from finasteride and minoxidil - no noticeable shedding occurred, though i did notice my hairline got thinner after the first month on propecia which eventually regained it's density after a few months.

when you are first starting out, don't look in the mirror everyday for regrowth, look at it month by month.
