Anyone noticed improvement\regrowth only after so long (17 months) on Propecia?
Or heard of such case?

I think my hair loss has stopped by now, but not completely sure (horseshoe pattern).
I did notice about 4 new hairs a little below my hairline in the last 2 months.
Please add any information you can.
Thanks.

Just want to add that after days and days of searching online,
I read that some say full effect can be until 2 years.
But did anyone really experienced this?

Maintenance of hair is considered a success on finasteride. Ive been on finasteride for 4 months now and I've maintained.

Well if you are maintaining that's good, isn't it? For regrowth you can try minoxidil and dermarolling.

I don't think that after 17 month you will suddenly see lots of regrowth on finasteride, but maybe it's still slowly getting better.

What I've noticed being on finasteride for a year and dutasteride now for 3 months is that my hair has thickened and become darker but haven't noticed new hair on hairline and such but shedding has decreased dramatically. I would say is a success as I'm maintaining better quality hair.

How religious do I have to be about applying minoxidil?
Is it true that it can affect the appearance of my face\skin\\eyes\dark circles?

Why did you choose to get on dutasteride? Because finasteride wasn't doing much?
Did you get any sides from it? What is the consensus about the side effects?

That's really all I'm asking for out of finasteride, 5 months in and I'm barely even maintaining. Shedding like a fkn dog at this point. Hoping the shed reduces innthe next month or 2

I got on dutasteride due to the constant shedding on finasteride. Finasteride did improve my hair as far as thickness and quality but kept shedding and scalp would itch and get painful bumps on scalp . So I figured I'd jump on dutasteride and see if I could get the gains that finasteride gave me but without the shedding. I see so far much improvement..very little shedding, no more sore and itching scalp..I get the same sides from dutasteride..brain fog and such but nothing I can't deal with

If not dutasteride may be worth a shot.

I guess my doctor won't prescribe dutasteride for me. So will have to get that online.

You got constant itch and shedding on finasteride yet still improved despite of that? Wow.
Might be due to 5AR type 1 been upregulated in compensation so it seems.

And the brain fog is something you can deal with?

with finasteride you expect maintenance first, anything else is a bonus. Some people get lucky catching it early and can regrow basically everything but the NW0/1 pattern they had a child but its extremely rare.

The question is maintenance from since starting finasteride or at any point after taking it?
I mean if until the maintenance I lost hair, will that hair grow back..

Anyway, I am pretty sure I'm starting to see some nice regrowth!! :))))
Will take a haircut soon and will see how well it is. I feel that I have my life back now.
Hope I won't be disappointed.

Yes hair quality improved despite all the shedding because the hair was more pigmented with thicker hair shafts.
I'm now back on finasteride and dutasteride once or twice a week due to dutasteride making me lethargic and not feeling like doing my workout. Just started this regimen so will update if I keep the same hair gains.
I think this go round with finasteride I can rid myself of the itch by using nizoral shampoo daily and brush my scalp in shower while shampoo in hair. Works wonders while I was doing dutasteride daily.
