Pondle said:I thought I saw a figure on Propecia sales recently and the trend does seem to indicate growth, although nowhere near the $500m p.a. that seems to be regarded as the pharma industry benchmark for a strong product. The problem with a product like Propecia is that, while it addresses a potentially huge market, its performance is not stellar enough to overcome many guys' worries about sides or encourage men to break the habit of a lifetime and actually visit their doctor.
I also think that Merck was a little naive in (a) formulating finasteride as a hard tablet, and (b) flogging Propecia at an exorbitant price relative to Proscar. They should have known that cost-conscious informed consumers would cut up the larger dose instead of buying the overpriced 1mg boxes [/i]

Hmm, that must be knew. I guess not too many people are buying propecia...at the same time tho, it shows that they are confident it will work.
