I thought I saw a figure on Propecia sales recently and the trend does seem to indicate growth, although nowhere near the $500m p.a. that seems to be regarded as the pharma industry benchmark for a strong product. The problem with a product like Propecia is that, while it addresses a potentially huge market, its performance is not stellar enough to overcome many guys' worries about sides or encourage men to break the habit of a lifetime and actually visit their doctor.

I also think that Merck was a little naive in (a) formulating finasteride as a hard tablet, and (b) flogging Propecia at an exorbitant price relative to Proscar. They should have known that cost-conscious informed consumers would cut up the larger dose instead of buying the overpriced 1mg boxes [/i]

i started propecia just because i saw the money-back guarantee. sure, it means im buying real propecia instead of generic finasteride and thus paying more, but if the generic didnt work thats money lost. if the real stuff works, then, well...i wont really give a darn how much i spent!

what i am worried about is that they make you list your physician, and the terms and conditions indicate your Doctor could be asked to verify everything. this is a pain in the *** for me because my propecia was prescribed by a Physician's Assistant (in my state they have the authority to do this). I hope they dont give me any BS about it.

Also, I just moved from where it was prescribed, so it would be a huge inconvenience to have to go see him again.

Merck is big Pharm, odds are they are going to stick it to me with red tape if I claim a refund. After all, 12 monts of propecia essentially means they will have to cut me a $1000 check if I'm not satisfied.

It's actually true I received my refund saturday with an apology letter telling me that they are sorry and good luck in the future regarding my hairloss. Even though it didn't work for me and gave me a lot of sides at least I got my money back.

What, if anything, did they make you do to get the refund?

I had to fill out the reimbursement form along with my receits for propecia for 12 months and let my dermatologist sign that propecia didn't work.
