Hi guys, upon doing some research online, I found this link

http://www.propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1170

It basically says that one dose of finasteride per week is enough to inhibit dht. I was hell bent on never touching this stuff, but I need to start using something before it's too late. My assumption is that such a dosage seems to be safe enough, but I'm not really sure. Does anybody else only use the finasteride every other day or maybe twice a week, how has that worked out for you? have you had any side effects? The only thing that really frightens me about using finasteride is permanent ED, but if I knew that this was a safe way to use it, then I might consider. I would really appreciate your feedback on this.

Hey.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Im currently off finasteride for about a week and a half, and hoping I make a full speedy recovery. If I do, and the damage isnt bad, I plan on experimenting with very low dose.

Before I quit I was using a home made topical finasteride.

.166mg finasteride, per 1ml of min. That equals 10 pills of propecia per bottle. It takes a couple days for the pill sediment to fully disolve into a solution.

I discovered that topical was essentially as strong as taking it orally.

So when/if I restart, I might try a 1/10 dropper a week, see how that goes, and increase very slowly per week and see how effective it is, and how my body handles it. But I likely won't even attempt this is I don't make a full recovery first off.

hi in response to your post ive been on finasteride daily since april/may 2010 switching over from propecia which i started back in feb 2010..i personally have had no side affects but have read about all of the horrible side affects people get from taking these drugs which kept me from taking it for a whole year after my hair loss begun..apparently there are some people who have never recovered even after quitting this drug..everyone responds differently to it apparently and i consider myself one of the luckier ones..it atleast got rid of my annoying scalp itch/hair loss. ive been on propecia & finasteride since feb and have had no decrease in sex drive, watery semen, problems getting an erection etc..but like i said everyone is different and may respond differently. if you currently have no sex life what have you got to lose? thats what i told myself when i got on it :)

beast, have you tried this once a week regime yet?
and GK, hows the recovery going?

Its going quite well. Its been about 2-3 weeks. Everything seems 90-100% better..BUt erections are about 70-80% of pre-finasteride state still. However thats an improvement from 40-60% before I quit. Im trying to be honest with myself about it, but the size is about normal now too. I think I will make 100% recovery, but I can surely understand how some people might take years, or never recover at all.

Hair is falling out, but its still looks pretty thick. Im trying to enjoy it while I can lol
