Progress thus far, opinions ??

A little intro.. I'm 19, 5'8 and a proud canadian resident. After mucking around with some supplements I probably shouldn't have been, I noticed my temples were starting to thin at a fast rate. I hopped on minoxidil at the beginning of August 2013 along with 2% nizoral and spironolactone. In October I decided finasteride might not hurt so I hoped on a generic version called Firide. I've been taking 1 mg everyday religiously since then with minimill sides and this is where I'm at now. My hair is usually shaved down to a 0.5-1 anyways but due to my male pattern baldness paranoia i've decided to grow it out a bit longer. I'm really just looking for some input from the experienced guys on the forum. Cheers.

Your hair looks thicker, but it could just be the lighting/length. Consistency is crucial for comparative purposes, particularly with regards to keeping high resolution photos with the same lighting

Just got the mop buzzed and it doesn't seem like the temples are improving at all.. I want to attribute it to the two weeks I ran out of finasteride but my conscience seems to think otherwise. I'm starting to feel a little helpless again and don't really know what to do...

to be honest, your hair looks fine. Maybe the hair color on your temples is lighter than the rest?

Honestly it does not look bad at all. I can see the temple thinning you're worried about, but as far as male pattern baldness goes you've got a toe in the water. Whether or not you should continue finasteride, well…
-Are you losing hair/self conscious about your situation: YES
-Are you not losing hair/encountering ball shattering sides: NO

You're right, it's just such an awful feeling. I know most of it is in my head but it is literally starting to control my life. I was writing a calculus exam on friday night and one of our proctors was probably 28-30 Norwood-7 and I couldn't stop thinking that this may be me soon. For years I liked having my shaved head but now whenever I look in the mirror, my eyes go right to the hairline and completely overlook everything else. When i'm in class I always sit at the back of the lecture hall and don't say a word. I used to be so extroverted, never had a problem with the girls (unless they were 5'9+) but now, in the midst of a lightly thinning left temple everything is starting to change. If i'm this insecure about it so early, I can't help but think what may happen if the propecia does not work the way I want it to, or if it makes things worse (being a man of science I know it's not possible). I want to stop being such a little girl about it and nut up but I just can't.

Honestly maybe try growing your hair out? I feel like a shaven head could visibly accentuate your male pattern baldness, but it's your call dude. Definitely keep it up with finasteride, if you're hating it now you need to do whatever you can to prevent any more hair loss.

btw I think nizoral helped in the amount of my hair fall if you haven't you should check it out

Thanks BTS, I do appreciate your input. As for the Nizoral, that was the first product I started using at the onset of thinning. I saw a hair transplant doctor today and he assured me that he will help me keep what I have for a long time. I decided to pick up some legit Propecia for a very fair price I must say, instead of the Thai Firide i've been using, to calm my psychie a bit. I'll post pics in a few months time with some positive progress (fingers crossed). Thank you everyone for your comments.

um I think I can see a bit of thinning going on...I would go see a hair specialist to see what's with the thinning patches on top of your head..

Went to a hair transplant surgeon a few weeks ago and he just gave me finasteride. I was on it prior for around 3 months but I had to stop for two weeks because I ran out- maybe I took a hit then. No one has noticed any recession but I want to thicken it back up, I've been using minoxidil and nizoral for around 7 months but it doesn't seem to be helping, except for patches of tiny vellus hair all over my forehead lol. Everyday the left temple tingles where it's thinning and it drives me insane, makes me think my hairline is gone and I freak out. Talmoode, I've noticed you've been on treatment for >2 years, how has it been for you ?
