Hello Friends at Farjo,
I read an article that you guys are currently working on follicular cell
regeneration. At what process are you guys currently at, phase I, II? This
sounds like a very promising tool in the battle against male pattern baldness.
Thank you!
Tony

Dear Tony
Thank you for your e-mail. Phase I of the clinical trial is underway but I
hope the following information is helpful:
Volunteers can only take part if aged 18-50 and consider themselves to be
fit and healthy.
The trial is based in Manchester city centre.
To be included into the trial you must attend a pre-screen visit in order
for the doctor to assess your degree of baldness and discuss the trial in
greater detail
If included you would be expected to attend a screening visit where a small
sample of blood will be taken and a medical examination will be performed to
check that you are generally fit and healthy.
If everything is ok you will be invited back and a small sample of skin will
be taken from the back of the head
Cells are then extracted from the sample and grown in a laboratory. This
process can take up to 4 weeks.
The cells are then injected back into an area of baldness (there can be up
to 3 injections)
All visits where injections are not performed are for safety purposes to
check on your well-being
The trial may involve up to 10 visits to the clinic.
As mentioned Phase I of the trial is underway but we are hoping to hold our
phase II clinical trial in the UK and North America in late 2005 but at
present the trial design has yet to be finalised and there are no timelines
or precise clinic locations. When further information is available we will
post this on the Intercytex web site, however we do not anticipate details
being available for at least 6 months.
In the m
eantime, we will keep your information on file and update you when
information is available.'
Regards
