Hello Friends at Farjo,

I read an article that you guys are currently working on follicular cell
regeneration. At what process are you guys currently at, phase I, II? This
sounds like a very promising tool in the battle against male pattern baldness.

Thank you!
Tony

Dear Tony

Thank you for your e-mail. Phase I of the clinical trial is underway but I
hope the following information is helpful:

Volunteers can only take part if aged 18-50 and consider themselves to be
fit and healthy.

The trial is based in Manchester city centre.

To be included into the trial you must attend a pre-screen visit in order
for the doctor to assess your degree of baldness and discuss the trial in
greater detail

If included you would be expected to attend a screening visit where a small
sample of blood will be taken and a medical examination will be performed to
check that you are generally fit and healthy.
If everything is ok you will be invited back and a small sample of skin will
be taken from the back of the head
Cells are then extracted from the sample and grown in a laboratory. This
process can take up to 4 weeks.
The cells are then injected back into an area of baldness (there can be up
to 3 injections)
All visits where injections are not performed are for safety purposes to
check on your well-being
The trial may involve up to 10 visits to the clinic.
As mentioned Phase I of the trial is underway but we are hoping to hold our
phase II clinical trial in the UK and North America in late 2005 but at
present the trial design has yet to be finalised and there are no timelines
or precise clinic locations. When further information is available we will
post this on the Intercytex web site, however we do not anticipate details
being available for at least 6 months.
In the m
eantime, we will keep your information on file and update you when
information is available.'
Regards

Soon my friends, soon we will all be laughing at our selfs for worrying. There are people out there trying to find a solution...

Can you ask them what the estimated costs will be for a NW7? Think it's gonna be like $100.000

Sure!!

Ill aks..........

I think they are still taking candidates....

The cool thing about this, is that the cells will be taken from the back of your head and then re-injected into balding areas. Sort of like stem cell...if it works out, CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!!

Hello You MOFO's

Here is another update...

Hi Lesley,

What would be the cost for such a procedure, if lets say, things go well and
its available to the public. Also, I am in the U.S., I take it there will be
no clinical trials here. :^)

Thanks,
Tony

They responded:
Dear Tony

At this early stage we really have no information on how/if Trichocyte will
be used in the future and we certainly couldn't estimate the cost yet but
would expect it to be competitive with the cost of any current treatments.
Regarding trials in the US, Intercytex have plans to hold a Phase II
clinical trial in the UK and North America but at present the trial design
is under development and there are no precise clinic locations or timelines.
When further information is available it will be posted on the Intercytex
web site, however we don't anticipate details being available for at least 6
months

Regards

Ill will make an effort to update this once in a while.

LATERZ!!!

What depresses me the most about this site is too look at all this old accounts, see what they posted and then llok at their last connection to the forum, 7-8years ago... That a f*****g lot of time, it means they have been finasteride for 8 years or that they have just accepted it and never look bad.
This disease is disgusting but the HairLossTalk.com cemetery is even more disgusting.

I think everyone's overlooking the fact that before the idea of stem cell therapy came along I don't think anyone even really considered a cure was really do able. So really the reason everyone thought the cure was so close 10 - 15 years ago was an understandable consequence of the emergence of the sudden possibility of stem cell therapy (and regenerative medicine) being realised as a technology.

Of course it turned out to be a bit more complex than everyone thought, but scientific progress is a one way road and an ever accelerating one. Look at the rate that studies are coming out at now, it's getting ridiculous. It's seems pretty obvious to me at this point we're going to have multiple effective cures pretty much at the same time, stuff we're all talking about, stuff no ones really talking about (siRNAing out the androgen receptors anyone?), and stuff that will be total blue sky.

I love the twisted irony of thinking about guys sitting here in 10 years quoting this post, but in reality I think it's also pretty obvious, when you look at the emerging science, it more probable than not that anyone under the age of about 60 will most likely never even die of old age, let alone die bald.
