Products to avoid for new hair loss sufferers.

I thought I would start a list of products and treatments that will waste time and money of those just getting started.

I myself wasted a couple of years on useless stuff. Feel free to add to the list. So here goes...

1) Nioxin - has a cosmetic thickening effect, but does nothing for the balding process - Barbers and stylist will pimp this stuff on you (or at least they used to!)

2) Alpecin (Caffeine) - Tried it solid for 2 years and absolutely nothing good to report - others have said the same.

3) Danny Roddy (Hair Like A Fox) - This guy is out there. He proposes some diet and lifestyle changes that he swears can cure hair loss. He himself claims to have been a sufferer, but I never saw pictures supporting this claim. My opinion on this guy is he is very intelligent and using his smarts to take advantage of others.

4) LLLT (Laser) - Never tried it. But all reputable people that I trust in the Hair loss community seem to think it is a gimmick.

5) Diet, Exercise, Supplements. Unless you have a major underlying health issue that's contributing to your hair loss, there is simply nothing you can do by these means to correct your genetic hair loss.

6) Saw Palmetto - Tried this for about two years. Looks good on paper, but does absolutely nothing.

7) No Fap - Not only will you not be helping hair loss, but denying yourself a good amount of pleasure and stress relief.

There are others as well ex: scalp massage, but I don't know enough to rule them out yet. Anyways, I stand behind these from experience and new people should bypass these in favor of treatments that work. Finasteride, Dutasteride, Minoxidil, Ketoconazole, RU. Research These.

Good thread! . It mirrors what most newbie hair loss sufferers use first. The first thing I bought when noticing my hair loss was Nioxin then I moved on to Alpecin. All this did was cost me valuable time and hair not taking the big guns at the first sign of hair loss

Well, it's almost common sense that shampoos or supplements cannot help very much for hairloss, if at all.
Fap? Bs also, but did you reallt had to write what you wrote after, i can't believe...

I used the Nixion system a long time ago. When I would wash with it, it would immedietly start burning my scalp like my entire head would get really hot, but felt extremely good afterwards for some reason. It was like applying icy hot to your head.

It's a shame really. I estimate that I would be an entire norwood better if I hadn't wasted so much time. Between denial and BS treatments, it was about 4 years.

Believe it or not, knowledge about the true causes and treatments for hair loss is not that mainstream. People still treat it like it's a mystical illness more associated with hygiene or life choices. I've even heard people on here blame god for taking out some sort of wrath on them by giving them hair loss. What about you? Were you in denial? Did you try BS treatments? Or did you just wake up one morning knowing everything about your condition and how to treat it?

The thing is RU was a potent AA much stronger than finasteride or dutasteride and it competed against both T and DHT. Its just the reliable supplier and safety info that still is lacking. It might very well work really well under certain conditions.

Good thread, hope this gets more attention. The last thing I'd hope for is that other unfortunate souls get swindled on top of having been dealt a ****ty hand in the genetic lottery.

You're absolutely right about saw palmetto. I tried that with pumpkin seed, nettle root and green tea for a year. It didn't even slowed down my hair loss! My advise is to stick with FDA approved treatments.

I pretty much followed the same list, but in a different order. add to that procerin, yuda pilatory sprays, I would add the supplements for heavy metal detox, but i think they helped stop hairfall, just not the process of male pattern baldness, if that makes sense.

head and shoulders hair retain, zulvera (a shampoo), Ds labs Revita, and a **** load of various supplements.

I think whats funny and sad at the same time, is if i had just listened to my doctor, and some mainstream forums (like this one 10 yrs ago) i would have only bothered with proven treatments, but for some reason i thought i was smarter than everyone else, and thought i could research it and fix it myself where others have failed.

I think if you guys are honest youll admit the same thing. but why did we think we were smarter than all the collective science? male pattern baldness sure puts you in your place.

Actually, not. In the internet era, it's very easy to find what works and what not.
To believe in all bs treatments presented on the net is pure naivety.

Supplements can help a bit, but only if you're on the proven treatments also.
And Revita shampoo is not a bad shampoo, it contains keto, but did you expect to keep your hair/regrow, just on a shampoo?

I also think revita is a pretty good shampoo. I use it 2 days on. Nizoral 2% on the third day and repeat. It's cheap and I need to wash my hair anyway.

I fall under this category unfortunately.

It is a necessary exercise in logic to realize this.
