Hi all, as you may know I use a UK based hair system supplier and I got my first ever system just over 1 year ago. I am a guy with longer hair and started off using a partial 6 inch stock Swiss lace system, with the view to getting a custom system of 10 inches or so at a later date. The 6 inch system covers my balding area on the top of my head, and I have longer bio hair on the back and sides. The system blends in with my bio hair to give the illusion of me having a full head of long hair. However the plan was always to get a 10 inch custom system, the same length as my bio hair, and cover my bio hair. That way, there is less chance of people noticing the (slight, but possibly noticeable in certain situations) discrepancy between 2 hair types/colours of hair on my head.
I am very happy with the price and quality of the hair systems my supplier has provided - my current system is now in its 6 month and still looks great. The hair looks totally real, and I have had very little shedding so far.
The plan with my current supplier was that I'd have 3 10 inch custom systems per year, i.e. 1 every 4 months. They offer a monthly payment option, which does not cost anything overall but just helps spread the cost a bit more easily. I am paying them this monthly fee.
The first custom system was due in July, but the dates kept being put back due to the pandemic. The owner of the company said it'd be delivered in August, then when I chased him up he said September, then October, then November. It is now the last day of December and I have not received any update from them whatsoever on my order status.
I have paid them 5 or 6 monthly payments, so they owe me nearly 2 custom systems now.
I understand that their supply chain has been affected by the pandemic, and they had to get a whole new production source etc. However, the thing that REALLY annoys me is that the owner of this company has very poor communication skills and does not keep customers informed of the status of their orders. I have had to constantly chase up previous orders, and then I get an email back (after many days or weeks) saying 'Omg I'm so sorry for not getting back to you....your order will definitely be delivered (next week/next month) etc'.
Last time I spoke to them, they said my custom system had been moved to the new production facilities, and would be delivered in early November. I am very annoyed they couldn't even be bothered to update me without me having to contact them first. I DO understand we are in a global pandemic which has seriously affected the hair system industry, but I'm not happy about the lack of updates about my order, while they continue taking my money every month. They have very poor customer service.
Pandemic or not, shouldn't a hair system company keep their customers informed of the status of their orders? What do the other companies out there do?
I'm not sure how to proceed from here. Should I email them or schedule a phone call and find out what's happening asap? The thing is, I need my longer haired system soon as I am not able to move forward to the exact vision of hair I'm looking for with stock systems only (although it's ok for the time being). Also, I need to know if my custom order in production and if not then should I cancel and demand my money back? I can then move on to another supplier.
I am thinking of giving Hair Direct a try instead. I know exactly what I want out of a custom system, it's just a matter of who can deliver a great quality product for a reasonable price in a reasonable time period (given the current pandemic). I'm not prepared to put up with this any longer.
