hi i am an 18 years old having recession since 14 my hair loss didn't progressed too much i am like Norwood 2.5 in 4 years i don't think thats much, and i have natural thin air, when i was balding i was telling me that its not something serious, always declining my baldness so when i matured a bit at 16 i saw propecia existed but didn't wanted to risk at such young age, here i am now sitting and thinking about it i already spoke to my parents they told my that the drug could mess my body so they don't want me to buy it except if i get a prescription from a doctor which i will visit monday.i simply cannot accept the balding process, i am going to buy minoxidil which is named FOLIGAN p5, because there are no other brands here in Belgium, and nizoral i can have it, the problem is only propecia, will my doctor give it to me, without it not much results, willing to risk the sides, just can you give me some good excuse so the doctor can give me to me, i have uploaded some pic on my other thread, just can't watch anymore my friends having nw0 and me going full bald, my father still have the nw3 at 43 but thin all over(he started to go bald at 17), so i guess i will have the same thing
incase i can't get propecia mino, and nizoral can they slow down a bit ?

I'm having trouble following your post. I started propecia when I was 18. That is an America though not Belgium. I can't say what a Belgium doctor would say. One thing I wish I had done, or wish was an option back in 2003 was to have had my hormones checked prior to starting propecia. I would recommend you go see your doctor, have your hormone levels checked. And ask these questions with them.

I know having my hormones checked was available to me but back in 2003, no one was suggesting that you do that before starting finasteride, and there wasn't much info on the web about it back then either.

Well the doctor should be able to confirm that you have male pattern baldness through an examination. The hormone test would be to get a baseline measurement of where your hormone levels are before taking a drug that will alter them. finasteride is going to decrease your DHT by a certain percentage. The average being around 65-70% from the information I've read online. On top of that your testosterone will more than likely increase a small amount and your estraidol (spelling?) will increase a small amount as well.

If you get your hormones checked again after 3 or 6 months, or even a year, you will want to see what effect the drug has had on your hormones. Maybe it is decreasing or increasing something by way too much that becomes harmful to you systematically. Not everyone is the same. It's just something I would choose to do if it isn't too costly.
