Price frustration.

Unfortunately for me, discussing price appears to be taboo. Finding prices seem at best very difficult even though Doctors appear to have a set cost range per FU.

I cancelled a Bosley transplant the day prior to surgery since I felt insufficiently informed. Now I know the names of some very reputable doctors, according to this forum. But I have no idea if they are even in my price range and it’s silly walking into a Bentley dealership only to hear them say if you have to ask it’s too much.

Frankly there are a lot of concerns I have, many of which are logistical like boarding my dog during surgery and post op. And what to do about my job, since I’ve read a patient report his head being red nearly two months post op. Working from home for two months seems unlikely; and a leave of absence is out of the question. As soon as an employer feels they can get along without you, they will do just that.

Absent pricing information for my preferred doctor (Armani), it’s easy to let time go by and never get the work done.

I’m grumpy!

Very happy to hear those of you who have had great experiences. Good healing and growing to you all.

Doctors that are unwilling to discuss price with you are probably not worth your time.

Patience... Call as many doctors as you can-- get estimates. Send photos of your hair out. Don't get suckered in. You're the one in charge of this life-changing venture.

There's light at the end of the tunnel. Remember that.

Try to focus your frustration into something productive-- like the shitty service you get at the Fiesta Buffet in Las Vegas-- f*****g assholes...

Haha, just kidding. Anyway, Armani is good, and I would personally go with either Armani or Hasson and Wong if I ever had to have a transplant.

Hair transplant doctors should WORK WITH YOU, and as such, they should work with your financial goals, too.

Let me give you a piece of advice and dont tell them I told you this.. I just had over 4000 grafts at Armani ,, Call Shane there and work him hard on the phone. If you get over 3000 grafts you can get em at $3 per graft .

For the quality of work they do, that's an absolute STEAL .

All of the top doctors charge between $3 and $4 per graft (for strip). For larger sessions, the price tends to drop down towards $3.

Can someone pls answer this:

If you had like 4000 grafts done with armani for 3$ per graft then that would cost 12.000 $. What's the tax on top of that? I'm from Europe so our prices already include the tax unlike USA and Canada where tax is added later.

Sutured: Can you please tell me how much did your transplant cost in total?

Well, since no one answered this, I'll partially answer it - there is no tax on a medical procedure in the US. That includes hair transplants. So the price you are quoted is the total price. I think it is the same in Canada but I'm not 100% sure.

Hmm I think another guy who got a transplant at H&W wrote about adding the tax and ended paying about 22k $. So are you sure?

From my understanding, you will pay a tax in Canada and I'm not sure the exact rate but you can simply call one of them H&W, Armani, and they will tell you how it is calculated.

I live in midtown Toronto .. Our tax is 15% , however, it's split in two taxes called GST and PST , one is 7% the other is 8% . GST is Government sales tax and PST is Provincial sales tax ..

However, when buying a used car for instance, you only pay one tax whereas a buying new car you'd have to pay the full 15% .. So you don't pay 15% for everything.. Electronic stores for instance will always hold promotions where you dont have to pay GST , PST or both .. And many other places for products and services as well ..

Now, as far as cosmetic surgery you only pay one tax ,, I only had to pay the 7% GST tax .. I have my invoice in front of me right now and paid 7% on top of Telogen Effluvium surgery cost ..

Hope this helps ..

All the best,
SNB

Guys,

On prices,

Many of you will find that a "price per graft" will not be available to you.

Why?

Let me tell you.....Alot of mills get you to fill out a questionaire stating where you work for "finance" purposes. What they really want to know is how much money you make. When they find out how much you make per year, they will quote you the highest price they think you will pay, without a "walkout" where you go shopping elsewhere.

Find an ad of a follicular unit Doctor that has price-per graft and PRINT it. Confront the "senior medical associate" who is really just a salesguy with it. When you find out how many plugs you need............insist the price be compeditive with the per graft price listed on the ad, or threaten to go elsewhere. Five bucks per graft is PLENTY to pay for any work using a conventional strip scar.

Follicular Unit Extraction work is much more expensive because its slow and tedious, therefore will cost much more.
