Preventing Finasteride Side Effects

Hello Everyone, I've done a lot research on the subject of preventing side effects of Finasteride. I plan on starting on finasteride in about 1.5 months.
Here is what I've gathered (Input gladly appreciated):

-Reducing dose to .2 mg and possibly EOD.
This is obviously an approach that would just lower chances and also effectiveness.
-Taking Aromatase Inhibitors.
Taking supplements such as Grape Seed Extract, Theaflavein extract, DIM extract (or eat more cruciferous vegetables), Resveratrol, and Zinc.

I suppose a combination of these would be a good idea to take along with Finasteride when you start.

-Nitric Oxide
Taking supplements to boost your Nitric Oxide levels can help with ED. Plus, it's great for vascular health.

-Exercise
This one is frankly very important. The less fat you have, the less estrogen has to work with. Dedicated exercising will improve overall quality of life and boost sex drives as well.

There are lists of natural libido boosters available out there, I'd say these are the most helpful with side effects and I will be using them as soon as I start finasteride. Yes, it could be "successful" because I don't experience sides to begin with. I'd rather take extra precautions.

As I am not an expert, just researching. Please feel free to add anything or debate.

The very best way to avoid finasteride side effects is getting a prescription from your doctor who does not know about side effects, take the pill like you'd take your multi vitamin supplement, go on with your life and never bother searching on the internet about finasteride.

Hey was wondering if the supplements you listed might help with brain fog? Past few times I've started up on finasteride I've gotten awful brain fog. Still not sure if I were to ride out a month of staying on it if it might subside or if I'd end up doing some serious damage. Any advice would be much appreciated

The aromatase Inhibitors I believe are the ones that would be of help for you. I don't know exactly what causes brain fog in some from finasteride, but I believe it's from low testosterone. This is where lifting weights and exercise would also help a significant amount.

K9gatton, I plan on starting at .5 everyday or every other day. I imagine if I were to get any sides from .5 eod I shouldn't continue using it.

Your precautions seem to be focusing on fighting estrogen and keeping T high.

What about brain fog/sleep disorder/fatigue?

I am using Ginkgo Biloba 240mg (120mg every 12 hours). Will be adding St. John's Wort to the mix and dosage not decided yet. My current finasteride dosage is 0.25mg and no noticeable sides now. Just hit my 5 month mark. I'm actually looking for supplements that are not super crazy. Ginko Biloba is doing good and I can feel it. Adding St. John's Wort should help. Brain fog/sleep disorder/ fatigue has reduced a lot.

What WangMQ mentioned is correct. Those things are crazy sides. Basically I was like a zombie. The Alarm goes off at 8AM and I'll still be in bed till 10AM. After waking up still feel sleepy and refuse to do anything. Motivation factor just disappeared. On top of that doing PhD in engineering while on this devil's potion was basically a death sentence. I feel I'm back and getting stronger. Been busting balls :jackit: couple of times a day for the past 1 week and getting better. BTW I'm 32 M, 5'4 and 143lb Lift weights, shreded (<11% body fat) and compete power lifting occasionally. Finasteride plays with the brain. No doubt. Take a look at the pic below. Searching along those lines came across GABA and its importance in brain and following lead me to Ginko and St. Wort.. More experiments to be done.. All the best. I will keep updating my findings here.

Wow that's great for you! Looks like we are quite similar. I remember reading else where that ginkgo biloba and SJW helps with these mental sides but I never understood why. Any thoughts?

BTW I don't think the mental sides of finasteride are related to T level as suggested before in this thread.

Funny that I'm also fighting for my degree. I study architecture and that's really taxing even to someone completely healthy. Thus why I had to cut down on finasteride.

I'm an engineering PhD student too and I suffer from the exact side effects. Finasteride just killed my motivations and make me a zombie. finasteride definitely interferes with the neural system.

I stopped finasteride and switched to RU now. No more brain fog! I plan to switch to CB as soon as I get some.
