Pretty positive I'm starting to recede but wanted to double check here.

I'm only 18 so this is pretty worrying. I looked at a picture from last year and it seems my temples were pretty far back then too, I just wasn't that conscious about it. Pretty sure they haven't always been like this but it's worth mentioning they look far back on my baby photos (but that's probably normal for a baby).

I still have baby hairs growing at the temples though, so not sure if that means anything. I haven't experienced any other hairloss, my hair is still very thick/grows back quickly.

My dad hasn't experienced a receding hairline, neither has my maternal grandfather, but then again my uncle (from my mum's side) has, so that might be an indicator that it's recessive in the genes.

I probably won't talk to a doctor about it just now because I feel like I don't want to be too worried about it, I'm off to university next year and I don't really wanna get on any medication that might affect how I mature - advice is always welcome though!

It's weird though because if you look at me you'd never notice my temples are receding since my hair is always covering them somehow, it's only when I pull my hair back that they become noticeable, e.g:

imo doesnt look like a receding hairline, but you could go to dermatologist or your doctor to get a professional opinion, probally your best bet.

To me, it looks exactly like my case, it looked the same in the beginning and it became intense in next 4 months, temples receded a lot but middle was still intact, then middle also receded.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Thing is it's been like this for years now, so I'm not sure.

Soon? My temple has been like this for a good year (maybe even earlier but I just noticed, it was like this in a picture from last year) or so now, so I hope it's slower

The best thing to do at this stage is to see how many hairs fall out in a day.

If it's over one hundred, or two hundred, than the process has started.

At this stage, nobody will notice it even if it is happening. In "theory", we can start
losing hair as soon as puberty starts.

I don't think that number of hair falling out in a day is a good indicator, I lose only about 10 - 15 hairs while combing every day, no hair on pillows shower etc and only about 10 - 20 hair on shampoo day. Not much of my hair on my shoulders or tables or around the house. I am pretty sure I lose only about 10 -30 hairs a day may be even less but still I am receding and i am pretty sure about it.

Exactly my friend, I was also around 17 yrs and 10 months old, pretty much around your age, for me it was like this for like 1 year and 8 months and then the stroke came. My barber was the first one to notice (he is a professional and a very experienced person) I didn't took him seriously that time (why would I, what fine thick full of hair head I had) and 8 months later, boom.

If your temples have looked like that for a good year, then they probably won't go anytime soon. Just keep monitoring them every few months.
