I think what you get is a lot of guys that come on here, learn some basics, posts 5-15 times and never post again and are having great success on the treatment.

Prolly most of the guys that stick around are having problems, or are still way to obsessed with their hair, even if they are having success(Like me).

all the people i know personally who take it have no complaints and have nothing but thick black full hair.
Look what happens when you get a newbie in here, who hasn't spent the last 12 months of his life listening to people complain on hair loss forums, and doesn't consider hair loss forum personal opinions the "way to gauge reality". You get the viewpoint of the *REAL* majority out there, living their lives, with absolutely no problems. This reflects my experiences too growman. I know several guys using propecia "offline" and absolutely none of them have had any problems. Welcome to the forums growman.

yeah, but how likely are people going to talk about these issues in public? I mean, I've had best friends that I've been close with, but never would I talk about my Propecia problems.

Serious guys, do your Propecia using friends etc about their problems with you?

I would think that posters here have the same success as stated in the literature...which is for 85% of the people, there is some sort of success. And perhaps those with a negative experience b**ch more. The best way to see if Propecia works is to try it.

As for me, today marks the 36 week mark (9 mth) on Propecia and when I pop the pill tonight, it will be my last one. Unfortunately, I am in the minority with Propecia, it has not helped (actually, in my case, it may have even accelerated hair loss, but lets just say it hasn't helped) After 9 mths with no success, I see no reason to continue to use it.

Yeah just like the FDA trials say. Imagine following directions? Crazy world.

Homer you can't come on here and say it didn't work since you didn't give it the STATED time that it is said to work in.

lol

Thanks for the feedback....Cassin, considering I see my hair daily, and you don't, I can come here and say that it has not worked...plus, I have also had a prominent hair loss doctor tell me after 7 months that if I didn't see results after 7 months, the odds are I would not...so, then, I guess my question is...why should I suddenly see some results when in the first 9 months I saw absolutely no results....why should things change in such a short period?

Trials say one year. What else is there to think about? Hey it's your hair I don't care.

I checked Propecia.com and to paraphrase, it says:

Mth 9 - If the product is working, at this point, you should be maintaining the hair you have or even grow back some hair lost

Yr 1 - By now you will know if it is working, and if it isn't it is not likely to help.

Well, I am at month 9 and am not maintaining my hair so in all likelihood, it ain't working. Really, the website gives no indication to believe something will change from mth 9-12....

I've been on Finasteride for 6 weeks now, had a pain in the nuts side effeffect after a week, but went away 3 or 4 dyas later. haven't noticed any hair regrowth but it's to soon to tell. Also most of my balding is on the crown so it's not like I can lookm at the back of my head everyday is it. The drug doesn't seem that bad though.

If you compare the documented side effects of finasteride to some other drug you'll see the hypocrondria that surrounds finasteride. I mean v**** has about 50 documented side effects, when going through themn I cqan't believe you'd get them all, it read like the drug was going to kill you or something, but any effects have to be documented and it's as simple as that

I'm just addicted to hear what you guys have to say, it's a pretty cool site, it's about the only forum on the Internet that I've found amusing

There are users on where of which treatment has take longer then the 8 months to experience results. 8 months is the average time, perhaps you are in the smaller percentage of which the underlying cause of your hairloss is so strong that a longer time frame is needed. Many people have experienced a multi-angled approach with success because different treatments work differently on different people. You have come so far along, it would be a shame to stop now, knowing in a month or 2 your shedding will have subsided. I can certainly understand your reason for concern, but why not give it 3 more months. With the inexpensiveness of generic propecia, proscar, etc.. why not? Anyways, whatever your decision, we are all here to help you. It doesn't matter to us if you drop it, but remember we are all in the same boat my friend. Good luck.
