I'm 23 years old. After shaving my head about 1.5 months ago I noticed 2 thinner areas of hair on my head. One on the left side above my ear and one on the right side behind my ear.
I didn't think much of it as I probably just "shaved too deep". I shaved my head again 5 days ago and noticed I actually have 2 bald spots. I did some googling and came out with Alopecia areata. One spot is as big as a euro piece and one is a little larger than a 2 euro piece. The smaller spot is entirely bald while the bigger spot still has hairs. I shaved my head for a length of 2 milimeter so you don't notice it as much ( I'm blonde/ginger ) ... But it does get me down a little. I am not noticing the spots getting any bigger (for now).
I am just wondering why this is happening now, The only thing I did recently is starting to excersise, quitting smoking and eating/drinking healthy.
( I started drinking beetroot juice about 1L every week for the past 3 months. )
Could me starting to live healthier have triggered AA ?
I read that 80% of victims recover within a year. Do you think I will be one of them? I can only hope. My hair used to be my pride.... so sad I'm getting this.
Should I go to the doctor? I doubt it has to do with some vitamine deficiency as I'm eating more fruit / healthy foods than I ever did lately. ( approx half a year )
