Significantly more surface area to bond, no fraying lace, and no knots. I believe lace shrinks too.

Advantages - much easier to clean up (shiny impervious plastic surface versus fragile netting); better surface for adhesive to stick to, so a very solid hold; mimics human skin very well, so looks incredibly realistic when seen from above, especially partings and crown swirls.
Disadvantages - non-breathable, so sweat gets trapped under the base; any unglued areas of the base make a "plastic bag" noise when touched; risky to use strong tape on the thinner poly bases, because you could rip the base when trying to remove the tape; the base can be shiny and visible at the hairline, especially in strong downward light - there is a distinct straight-line edge to the piece.

Lace is synthetic, it doesn't shrink.
Whereas UTS does shrink over time and especially when exposed to heat, like hot showers or hairdryers on hot setting.
Still, I've only ever worn UTS and I find it very comfortable and easy to clean and maintain. In very hot weather it can get uncomfortable but not massively.

Not to always disagree, but in my experience my swiss lace had shrunk in about a month.Lace is synthetic, it doesn't shrink.

No knots is a major plus. You can apply virtually any product to your hair without worrying about it affecting your unit's knots.
Cleanup, as noted, is easier. But so too is washing the hair when the unit is off. You do not have to worry about hairs flipping through the pores of the lace & getting on the underside.
Poly skin units also have a tendency to grip your head, making a perfect attachment easier.
