Hi ,

I am not sure If I am having a male pattern baldness or just a mature hair line ? I am 23 years old I did not notice the thinning on the corners of forehead untill recently. I have been struggling in my life the past two years I am not sure if this is due to being stress for a long time ?

I have not seen or noticed a hair loss while am showering or washing my hair apart from the usuall hair fall you get every day. I am actually not sure how I developed bald spots on the corners of my hair line which is really strange to me. Please note I have high forehead my whole life.
Plus I noticed my right temple is receding more .

Please have a look at my photos and I am waiting for your feedbacks.

Dang i like the last picture. The way your eyebrows are raised make you look MAD! lol

Anyway it does look like you have thinning/receding at the temples, albeit not a lot.

Many members here will tell you to jump of finasteride, minoxidil, and nizoral, and maybe go to africa and back, but ill just leave it for them to tell you!

It doesn't look bad though, imho

I'm not sure if you're thinning in the front either. It almost looks like it, but not really at the same time.

Try to figure out if the temples are miniaturizing and if you lose anything else then start on finasteride...for now I'd just say keep an eye on it.

It's really strange to me as I don't see hair fall but just the usual hair fall you get everyday.

I know I am going bald sooner or later as it runs in my family but if I can save some why not ?

how to know ?

hmm like what to do ?

Just wanted to mention I am not thinning in the front at all, the problem is with the temples.

appreciate your replies elliotramsey and TheGrayMan2001

It looks as if your temples are receding a little bit, but this could just be a maturing of your hairline, and if you jump on finasteride it may be a waste.

Best thing to do is keep those pics and try to recreate them in 12 months time and compare.

If you were balding fully you'd know about it, inflammation of scalp, hair shedding, greasey hair, not being able to style it the same etc...

You may well go bald in the future, you may not... but you look safe for now

You will hear a million and one reasons for and against Propecia.. It's up to you to decide, but you look fine to me! And probably do to at least 99% of people on here

Hi guys ,

So It's been 6 months since I took the photos above. Nothing has changed. My hair line is still the same although my hair is longer now. I will try to upload new pics tomorrow.

I wanted to ask about the miniaturization of the hair (TheGrayman are you there ? )
I can see short thinner hair at the hairline (corners) but I also see it in other people who are not balding. Take Tom Cruise as an example he is nw1 but still got some fine thinner hair at the front when compared to the other areas of his scalp. I don't understand the concept of hair miniaturization lead to balding when non-balding men like Tom Cruise or Brad pitt has some sort of shorter thinner hair at the front !

I forgot to mention that I went to see two dermatologists last January. The first one just looked at the temples and said this is normal and was laughing at me ! But I had dandruff he said.

The second one was better and I thought he was more informative as he's bald himself. He said size of forehead is hereditary "sigh". My mother has massive forehead and I have it too and she is thinning at the hairline but no bald spot. My father has small forehead and he's maybe Norwood 3 and balding in the crown but not too much I mean the size of the bald spot in his crown is not massive. He is 52 btw.

Guys do you think having swirl hair at the hairline can predict who you are following, because I have it since i was a kid in the right side near the corner and does my brother who is 29 and has all his hair.

You're fine. Stop worrying. Almost everyone (including girls) have thinner hairs around the front of their hair line.

Try and forget about it.

I don't think a swirl can indicate when you're going to lose your hair, and i agree with the advice given six months ago, to just monitor the situation.

And much kudos to you for doing exactly that.

Have another check in 6 months time, but i suspect you'll be fine for a good few years yet.
