Please tell me that you've reversed hair miniaturization

I'm following my regimen (below) religiously. As I expected, when I added minoxidil into my regimen I know it was going to get worse before it got better. And that has certainly been the case. I am still shedding like crazy and my hair is getting so thin on my crown and right behind my hair line that I'm afraid to get a haircut for fear that it will be noticable. My hair loss has only been slightly noticable to this point. Nobody has really commented on it.

Even though I'm shedding a lot I still feel like there are a lot of active follicles. It's just that the hair has gotten so miniaturized in the areas mentioned above that it appears there's not much hair there.

Someone please tell me that they've been through this stage of crappy thin hair and that they've come out victorious on the other side. I have no choice but to continue the regmen (as you'll know if you read my story in the other forum), but I just need some encouragement and hope. :)

Thanks guys

Most minoxidil users experience a shedding phase. Personally , my shedding started like a week after I started the treatment. It had been very scary for the following 3 months , then it slowed down gradually until ccompletely stopped at the 5 months mark. You'll certainly regrow some of the hair you shed , but not all of it. Almost 7 months here and not really satisfied.

If you regrow some but not all of it, why on earth would people use it? You're supposed to grow more than you shed!

Really ? minoxidil is a med that sounds great on paper , but indeed you shouldn't expect miracles from it. minoxidil gets rid of the fast cycling follicles , that is the follicles most affected by DHT. I'm telling you I have been using the 5% concentration for 7 months and here are my conclusions. I have regrown like 70 % of the hair I shed with minoxidil but there are still thin areas at the temples that havent recovered. I have some peach fuzz hairs growing at my temples that are unlikely to turn into terminal hairs though I really hope so.
My overall hair seem like 30 or 40 % more dense and healthy than before and even the hair that falls now seems strangely stronger than it ever was. Baldness has probably slowed down to a certain level.
I don't know if I'm on the verge of seeing some real results now but I can't say I'm satisfied with minoxidil until atleast when if recover all my shed hair.

is it possible you put too much minoxidil on to your scalp and the effects reverse?

If you are not using some kind of DHT-blocker, you will probably continue to bald; even with the use of minoxidil.

you should definitely regrow everything you shed and probably thicker than before. Please realize the shedding/regrowth phase can take several months.....you've only been on minoxidil since July and what you are seeing shed now may not be replaced for a couple months. I had a massive minoxidil shed late last year leading into early this year and never saw complete recovery until probably May.

Hellboy...not quite following you when you say your hair seems 30-40% more dense and healthy than before, but you've only seen 70% recovery from your shed...to me that statement doesn't make much sense...what do you mean by that exactly?

No , I use the exact recommended 2 ml a day , and even if I exceeded that , it shouldn't really reverse the effects.

So I have been told. However, minoxidil is supposed to atleast slow down the balding process as it keeps the hair longer in anagen phase.

I mean exactly what I said. My temples have defifnitely receded like 1 cm or more since I started minoxidil and I thought that was just shedding. When combing my hair , I try to hide the thinning areas at my temples but my top and crown look really good and this is what many people keep telling me.
Truth is , I'm starting to realize that minoxidil is more like a hair strengthning product than a hair loss treatment. However , I have no plans of dropping it at present , maybe after I hit the one year mark and still no improvement.
