Hi! I'm new here, and I just wanted your opinion(s), because I've been thinking about this for a long time... I'm 45, and I've gone through a lot of hair phases in my life. I don't know the dates of the pics below, but I know that they're from the last 10 years. My hair is currently the longest it's ever been, and I pull it back in a ponytail, and it looks exactly the same today as it did in those 2 pics. Somewhere in the middle of these I cut it all off and grew it back at least twice. Okay, down to business...

Genetics. My mother's father went totally bald at an early age (not sure when). I just remember him always being bald. My dad and I have very similar hair, brown and curly, and he's 70 and not bald. But! What confuses me is that, my grandfather left behind clothes (shirts, coats) that fit me perfectly. Apparently, we share the same body-type. And, I've seen pictures of him which shocked me, because of how similar we look. But, I look nothing like my dad, or my mom (except for her blue eyes).

Genetics always confused me in school, and I just don't understand it...

As a child, I used to have a prominent widow's peak, but that disappeared in my late 20s...

One thing I should mention is that I've been taking Paxil for at least 15 years. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...

So... what say you?

Thank you, in advance...

Hey again... I think I didn't specify what I was asking... In the pics with my long hair pulled-back in a ponytail, I see a lot of thinning, particularly around the top and the side-part. I was wondering if this was just a part of pulling it back, or if there is a real threat of me going bald in the near future...

My hair seems to be thinnest on the top, and thickest at the back of my neck, but I don't have a male pattern baldness spot (yet). Thanks, again!

A lot of people lose density as they get older, I don't think you're going bald though, you have great hair especially for your age.

Thinning = balding... it's all semantics. You are definitely balding in front, and the side parting shows thinning as well.

being 45 years old with that hair, you already beat hairloss
