Hi,
I am 28 Male from India. I am suffering from hair loss since I was 22. I tried Minoxidil, Rogaine and all the famous natural ways for hair Regrowth. but nothing worked out. I am only able to stop further Loss.
I was first planning to get a Hair Transplant as I have good Donor area, but after doing some Research online, I found that hair transplant may not be suitable for age less than 30 as future hair loss is also possible and also it wont give you the exact volume and its risky too as scars would be visible giving you a strange look :p

Then I thought of a custom Hair system as Its reversible and nowadays they have a magnificent and undetectable look.My only concern about a system is the side effect of adhesives on the scalp skin.

Please guide me should I Go for a Hair Transplant or Hair system. I have attached Pics of my current Hair loss condition. first one is the mohawk look which I normally keep to hide the scalp. I have the following life style.

1. Gym workout and yoga 5 days a week.
2. 9 am to 5pm software job with No traveling.

also please Let me know If at all the adhesive which would be used for the hair system is harmful

Kind Regards,

I meant the pics attached are my own hair. I am just asking suggestion weather to go for transplant or hair system and side effects of adhesive. I haven't done any procedures as of now. and Yoga and Gym is my life style so I was asking weather the hair system will show any sign of loosening up If I go for these physical activities?

I know there are ways to keep a system attached even with heavy exercise and sweating, I just am not 100% aware of the exact methods. As far as transplant or system I'd say whatever you can afford. In the long run transplant is cheaper, but it has more upfront cost. Also with transplant you will need to get on meds to reduce further thinning ect.

Hi Hairlossfighter

I should say up front that I wear a system which I am happy with, and I have never had a transplant.

You look like you have a good thick donor area, but your hairloss is already very advanced for a 28 year old. Transplants work best for guys who are receding, but who will not naturally progress much beyond NW3. You are already NW4 going on 5, and given your current age I would have to guess you will get to NW6 or even 7. In my observation it is not possible for a transplant to give a satisfactory result when your hairloss is that advanced. You will at best get a thin covering of hair which takes the shiny look off your scalp, and which you can bulk up with concealers (think Joe Biden). But anyone who looks closely at you will be able to see that you are bald, and it will be very obvious in strong lighting or if your hair gets wet.

I think your better options are either to buzz it off, if you can live with that, or get a system. As you say, the systems you can get nowadays look great, are pretty much undetectable, very reasonably priced, and if you don't like it you can throw it in the bin, no harm done. Some Indian guys look good buzzed with their dark skin though.

So far as the adhesive is concerned, I have been wearing my system for over 5 years with no issues. I personally wouldn't use the superglue-type acrylic adhesives which some of the hair club places use for month-long bonding, which contain toluene. Provided you stick to the water-based adhesives I think it's fine. I take my system off once a week, and that is a reasonable balance between hygiene, convenience and security. Actually I have never heard any evidence of the adhesives causing a problem, even the acrylic ones.

Good luck with whatever you do. If you want more info on systems, feel free to PM me. This board is very slow-moving, and there aren't that many posters with a system.

Hi NOAH,
Thanks very much for the quick reply. I would be going to a Hair system club and will get the system fitted.
First I will get it fitted from a salon, and as I get experience in handling it, I will do it myself.
In India, these Salons charge 800$ USD for the best hair piece initially. I know its costly, But If I order online, How will I be sure that the shape of the piece is exactly the same as shape of my affected scalp.
One more Question, India is a preety Hot country, normally temperature goes between 35 degree Celsius to 40 degree Celsius, will the Hot Sun can cause any issues with the piece?
If I have further question I will ask you out.

Regards,

Hi.
I too am from India(kolkata)
Got a hair system 1 month back. So far it has been okay. No problems with attachment and other things. About sweating, I do sweat because of the hot and humid weather. But I dont sweat a lot because I am a lecturer in a college and I dont have that much of an active lifestyle. Regarding drying out of hairs, I generally wear a hat if the sun is very strong that day to prevent direct sunlight. About detection, I use a french lace. I dont expose my frontal hairline. I brush sideways. And I think nobody in my college has been able to find out. Glue hasnt caused any problems so far. But its too early to tell. I have to wait and see if it does.

I have been wearing for a while now and I have not had any reaction or complications to tapes and glues. And I know people that have been wearing for 20-years without any issues when sticking to the well known brands

Thats too expensive. Price and quality are NOT correlated. You can do all this yourself for a fraction of the cost - $375. That includes real human hair, single strand, single knots, bleached knots, graduated density and a thin swiss lace.

I do everything online and have done so since my first piece. You take a template and give a sample of hair. Its as easy as pie and will save you a small fortune.

You can get discolouring from the strong sun so a hat or avoiding the hottest sun for any length of time is advisable.

I work out hard in the gym 4 times a week and sweat like a devil. Never had any problems. I use Supertape.

How to send template when ordering online

Hi Grincher-
Thanks for the Reply.
For a Template Do I need to send some measuring stuff like some replica of the affected scalp or just by mentioning the perimeter and size will suffiice? Like How exactly Do I send a template without using any professional help?

hI.No I do all of them myself. I didn't go to any hair club in Kolkata. They were giving a price of Rs. 40000 which seemed way too expensive. I ordered the piece online from looks21. Its a french lace system. Price was around Rs 19000 for the piece and the adhesives and tapes and shampoos cost some extra bucks. Regarding cutting of the piece, I went to a hair saloon that specializes in cutting of hair sytems. They cost me Rs. 600 for cutting the piece. But its okay since I hope the piece will last for 8months to 1 year at least with proper care.

Hi,
I am not sure if its bleached knots. When I ordered online they didn't show any option for bleached knots. So, I assumed that its bleached knots by default as most hair syatem companies would provide.
By the way, I have one question for you. Since India is a hot and humid country, I sometimes sweat continuously all day long. Will it create any skin problems( in the long run) or problem with bonding strength? I am a little bit worried since the glue blocks out the skin pores and prevents sweat from coming out(which seems a little unhealthy) Thanks. ANd I would also like to know which company you are talking about. I will try it out at least once to see which one is better.

When you look at your hair system can you see little black dots/spots on it?

I use tape and not glue. My hair system has a poly perimeter and I secure the supertape to that (and not all over the system/head). As a result only 10% of the area is covered and 90% is free to breath. However its very secure. If you are applying glue all over the system and scalp, I think it will block the pores.

Supertape gives me a 2-week bond including sweating in the gym 4 or 5 times a week. If I didnt sweat so much it would be nearer to 3-weeks.

Tape is also easier to clean up I find.

Sweat does weaken the bond. I always leave a minimum of 1 hour before washing my head. In that time the sweat dries and the bond re-strengthens.

You can get anti-sweat products and sprays, although I havent tried them myself.

I always remove, wash and reattach every 2-weeks to keep everything fresh and healthy. I recommend the Nearly Natural range. I have had my current system (Indian hair as I have thick hair) for over 6-months and its still as good as day one. Last week, ordered a new one which I will get in 4-weeks. I like to rotate between two so I always have one ready for emergencies.

The company I order from is http://www.ukhairsystems.com

I have dark hair so opt for bleach knots. Also I like single strand single knots at the front edge to get a natural hairline.

I hope that helps.

Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Yup, I still wear one. I detach and reattach every week. I have two systems that I swap about. I use tape on the back and sides and glue on the hairline. I don't have any issues with my bond. It would stay firm for 10 days or more, and occasionally I do leave it on for longer if I am away from home, but I find that if I re-do it every week the clean-up is really easy. My scalp is in good condition.

Are you having problems with bonding?

For a lace system, around 4 - 5 months. Possibly a bit longer if you are careful with it, possibly a bit less when you start wearing, because you are just learning the techniques.
